Saturday, January 13 - "Turning Techniques into Tactics"
9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Intended for Novice and Advanced coaches in all three weapons! This clinic will focus on the methods for a coach to promote students from technique-based lessons to tactical application of skills. The coaches will learn to provide situational choices to gradually move students to a less controlled (more bout-like) lesson. We will discuss the use of foreseen circumstances versus unforeseen events, timing and rhythms in a lesson, and other techniques of giving lessons. We will explore the issues of coach/student control during a lesson, and will practice the gradual release of tactical initiation to the student. We will focus on individual lessons (rather than teaching group lessons).

We will have a "working lunch." Lunch will be delivered in, and we will continue discussions during lunch.

Bring coaching equipment and practice fencing gear & weapons. This is definitely a hands-on training clinic! USFCA members will receive credit for accredited training hours.
