Found while doing a Google search...
From a celebrity newsgroup and dated yesterday...

hubby Guy Ritchie. Word is, she agreed to make a cameo as a fencing instructor
in the new Bond film, "Die Another Day," but only if Ritchie rewrote her
dialogue. Though he got permission, Ritchie didn't end up revising the script
    after all, according to sources.

    Confirmation from the Australian Newspaper....

    Madonna's a Bond girl
    10 JUL 2002
    From correspondents in London, AP

MADONNA will make a cameo appearance in the latest James Bond movie.
Spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said the 43-year-old singer, who has already recorded the title track for Die Another Day, was on the set in London to film her brief scenes this week.

London's Evening Standard newspaper said Madonna was playing a fencing instructor in the movie - the 20th Bond film.

The newspaper said she had shot a sequence that would be edited into a swashbuckling scene in which Pierce Brosnan, as Bond, duels with villain Gustav Graves, played by Toby Stephens, at a London gentlemen's club.

Rosenberg said Madonna was flying to Los Angeles next month to film a video for the movie's title song.

Dump Susan? Only for Elizabeth Hurley! (Hear that, Liz? And I like kids, too!)

    This from IMDB.com:

    Madonna: First Lesbian Bond Girl?

Madonna has demanded her character be made a lesbian in the new James Bond film because she didn't even get to kiss the suave spy in the script. The Material Girl scored a role in the movie, Die Another Day, after recording the Bond theme music, but when she discovered the producers had her character down as practically the only woman who does not get romantically involved with Pierce Brosnan's Bond in the action caper, she demanded to become a lesbian to compensate. A source says, "Madonna was furious movie bosses didn't want her to be a traditional Bond girl. All the Bond babes get to romp with the English agent but when she saw the script, Madge demanded to know why she couldn't at least kiss him. In the end she persuaded the bosses to let her play a lesbian instead. She is practically the only female in the film who doesn't canoodle with Bond - although it wasn't because she isn't considered sexy enough to be classic Bond girl material. Madonna likes to be controversial. She's getting a real kick out of the idea that she is the first lesbian Bond girl."

After reading these posts I've got to ask, "Who would want to put up with all this 'diva' posturing from Madonna?" If she's being as much of a pain as it sounds then it's not worth having her on the film.

Here's the version I saw, from my AP thingy-

"London's Evening Standard newspaper said Madonna will wield a foil in the movie as a fencing instructor. The newspaper said she had shot a sequence that will be edited into a swashbuckling scene in which Pierce Brosnan, as Bond, duels with villain Gustav Graves, played by Toby Stephens, at a London gentlemen's club."

It's a sad, sad day for fencing.

Sure, it may draw a few more students this fall, but...please. I can't think of many celebrities I would less like to see as a fencing instructor. It gives new meaning to the phrase, "The prostitution of the art."

Am I the only person here who finds Madonna a vile and repulsive human being?

No Sildar you are not. As cute as she may be she is a vacous, self indulgent, ego maniac. I saw a documentary about her (or rather the start of the documentary...) and even when shw was noone she would do 'anything' for fame. Even stand on the heads of her friends. The thing that struck about the little I saw (and incidentally this was a +ve documentary - my girlfriend watched the rest) was how these 'friends' were gushng about her 'obvious talent' despite the fact that she had cut them off once she had made it/got what she wanted. It was very sad.

Yes...and I would bridle at the "cute" characterization, too, myself. Echh.

The last photos I saw, she looked as if she had been taking steroids. Was looking rather bulky.

Well if her fencing is anything like her shooting we can expect a bad performance. She fired her gamekeeper because she couldnt hit a damned thing.

Now thats interesting, cant her bulkiness just be her age catching her up?
I think that this could be a very bad day for fencing do you not agree?

Honestly, you wont see how she fences!
All you will see is how a computer can enhance her fencing so it looks like she can do it!
Although I do think it will be interesting to see how good a computer can actually make her!

You wont see her fencing, the Bond movie uses stunt doubles (who can fence). I know one of the guys involved in the filming of the fencing scenes (we spent about 6 weeks on set, some time ago). Yes, he is a real fencer (not a stunt man).

Or as I am put right,
How a computer can enhance someone else to look like her, so that it looks like she is doing it herself and that she is good at what she is doing.
