| Mission Fencing Center (featured in the current American Fencing magazine) is MASSIVE (36 strips), and pretty well-equipped.
Check them out at www.missionfencing.com . It's about 75mi from New York City. |

| Prise de Fer might run its own claim.
Barry, are you trying to find a model for Truro Gold or another UK center? |

| Hey... in addition to 15 strips and one of the best locations in America (I'm biased since I am from there), Bucks County Academy of Fencing (BCAF) has great fencers, great coaches, great people and wireless internet access!

In my opinion; hands down the nicest facility I have ever seen.
They spare no expense on anything!

Gary Spruill | Including little paint indicated sections of the armory for each tool
Though some of the machines they use for their dual meets are far from new. Thankfully upgraded to current time and such, and good machines, but not new.

| Guys,
I was looking at the links and a little disappointed I couldn't locate links to images of the inside of the salles. Are there any anywhere? I am curious as we are about to move our club to a new facility (actually a new school hall in the interim) and I just wanted to see how some of the big clubs in America were looking. |

| Another club not mentioned is Salle Auriol Seattle ( http://www.salleauriol.com) with pictures at .
While it is not the most technilogically advanced club in the US (Northwest Fencing Center is more advanced), it is quite large with 18 strips including a raised finals strip with gigantic lights.

It's a University only facility, so relatively few outsiders come in. I know they did do a story on it when it was finished a few years back, though, so you might have some luck there.

| Hmm, personally I'd have to say that I've heard a lot of positives about Northwest and Pris de Fer but have yet to visit personally. By all accounts they are indeed top notch. If it weren't for the three-weapon stipulation I'd certainly include Nellya Fencers on the list (they're really not particularly well equipped for epee as the flooring was not grounde...arguably this is not good for foil as well). I don't actually know of many collegiate fencing rooms that I'd put on the list of best equipped in the country as most of them tend to be somewhat cramped and have less than sufficient space between strips etc. etc. I would however agree that Dook's room is pretty and (as seems standard when Alex Beguinet has something to do with it) scores highly on presentation marks. UNC's room is actually pretty well equipped (no metal strips though) as is PSU's. FAP has a pretty well appointed facility actually if my recollections are correct. However, I'd probably say that as a rule I've heard Northwest and Pris de Fer consistently cited as being the best of the best in terms of facilities.

| I used to fence with someone who ended up at Duke---- I haven't really ever heard much about the fencing space------- I really just ended up hearing about the locker rooms. Which are each themed and decorated, and sound significantly more plush than not only my dorm room, but my parents' entire house............

It's mighty hard to get big space in a good area when your club is actually IN the city, though. We have fewer strips than most of these other clubs, and none of them are grounded. (Don't tell, but we find ourselves at times thinking evil thoughts about our perfectly nice next-door neighbors - since if they left we could take over their space and THEN...)
In terms of technology, what I personally would love would be a machine with a working remote, the better to practice reffing with the thing in my hand. I still can't get the hang of starting the action and the clock when I'm down at the end of the strip. But then, that's a pretty minor gripe to have about a place where one spends about thirty hours a week. |

| I'm probably going to go with FAW (Fencing Academy of Westchester,) although PdF is very nice as well (and has a fantasic view, but that doesn't count for this.)

| qatet - is that to imply that the machines don't support remotes, or that they do but the remotes are broken?
For a small scale club, Caddo-Bossier Sword Sports is extremely nice. It's located in a converted bank, with gear stored in the vault. |
