    Names for your weapons

I'm just curious if I am the only one who gives names for each of their weapons.

I only buy from TCA so I either get gold or super blue coating. I have one blue for foil and epee, they are each named Sting. You know, Bilbo's blade shines blue when orcs are around.....

My gold weapons have names like Hrunting (Beowulf) and Excalibur. I had a France-Lames from Santelli last year named Caliburnas, its dead now. Caliburnas means cut steel, perhaps it should mean broken steel.

I am curious if I am the only one to do such a silly thing <img src="graemlins/dunce.gif" border="0" alt="[Dunce]" />

Late, the lats place I'd expect to see a Jabberwocky quote is on this board!

The onlty other thing I remember from that poem is to beware the frumnious bandersnatch!
Need fencing equipment? See me at H.O.M. Fencing Supply

Going to your first tournament? Read "Choose yer weapon, Laddie (or: Dude, where's my foil?)"

Then you'll probably be surprised that I named my epee 'Vorpel', as in:

"One two, one two, and through and through
    The vorpel blade went snicker-snack;
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back."

You know, Steve... "Secreat" like "Compleat", as in "The Compleat Snooker Player", and such. Archaic spelling.

Oh jeeze, I don't have to go into that again, do I? I was just talking about this with a friend of mine on AOL. He's been fencing a long time, thought he'd be able to come up with a good answer for me, but it turns out it just doesn't make sense. How do you chop something's head of with a one-two attack?? 'cause I've always wondered.
I mean, seems to me you'd have a hard time making a snicker-snack sound with a one-two attack, but darn near impossible to chop off a head with it, unless the neck was reallly skinny and you had a sword that resembles Cloud's buster sword...
Uhm... Anyway, that's my thing on the Jabberwocky.
By the way, I'm pretty sure it's spelled "vorpal".

As for the original question, my foil is named sword, so nobody can give me crap if I call it one. Likewise my mask is named helmet, jacket is sweater. My glove is named bambi, and I have a tennis ball named Archibald Aballa, arch enemy tennis ball.
(I had already named it archie, and someone I knew said they knew a guy named archibald abella, so it rather fit.)

    It's my favourite poem, loch.

I remembered it in the Sound of one foil foiling thread. Because of the Snicker-Snack....

    P.S.

Easy, shyHeidi: he ran it through with the one-two, then after that, snicker-snack

does battle net ever renew characters that have been deleted due to inactivity, as i have a level 60 sorc, and got sick of the game I came back to the game recently and no char. I was wondering if they backup and are willing to do a restore.

I got an epee for my birthday when I first started fencing. There is nothing light about this weapon....no aluminum on it anywhere. Everything is stainless steel. Even my instructor commented about how heavy it was. The boys in my club named it "The Tank" because of its 'voice'. Most epees 'sing' when the bells are hit by the opponents weapon. The TANK merely goes CLUNK. All the teens get a good laugh out of it, and when I purchased another weapon from a different manufacturer, it was so light I couldn't contol my blade actions - I seemed to be swinging way out of target range because an used to the weight of the tank.
