Trip to Iraq - Not offensive enough I guess

I am just very sad that we will end this conflict having gained little more than we had before we began it and having lost several thousands of our best and brightest young. I watched my friends return in coffins from Vietnam and now I must watch my friend's children return in coffins from Iraq.

Sometimes I feel that I have lived too long.

I'm lazy. I haven't read the entire thread.

I think Iraq has major problems. This isn't the fault of the military though. We can't come in with guns blazing, build limited infrastructure, and try force democracy down people's throats.

You shove something down someone's throat, no matter how good it is, and they throw it back up.

I especially like proverbs that contradict each other, like "Look before you leap" and "He who hesitates is lost"...

Heh. Or "Opposites attract" but "Birds of a feather flock together". Or my personal favorites, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" and "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"...

But how can you know what "will" happen?
