    The Bourne Identity

Just saw the movie this afternoon - it is AWESOME. What did anybody else think?
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I don't know about the girl...

I love when the first guy sent to kill Bourne lurches up, turns around, staggers out, and goes over the railing. I was laughing so hard for the next five minutes, my sister was giving me strange looks!

At the end, when Bourne jumps on the back of the dead guy and goes through the railing, then nails the last assassin on the way down - there is no sweeter move.

I read the books twice, they were so good. I was happy to see Robert Ludlum is an executive producer of the film. I can't wait to see it!

    Eek swordsman.
I've already seen the movie, and agree with your specific assessments, but perhaps you should edit your post and mark it with a spoiler warning.

Meh, The Bourne Identity was good, but it could have been a LOT better. There wasnt as much action as I thought there would be, and they were too short anyway. The hotel fight was pretty lame, the sounds of the punches were totally fake, and it was all spliced to confuse you. Other than that, I guess it was good.

Minority Report got 4 stars, so it can't be bad...

    How bout this one:

"Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded. Men like you sleep because guys like me stand on on those walls with guns, who's gonna do it? You... You... LT Weinberg? I have a greater responsibiltity than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines. We use words honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as part of a life defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time or the inclination to explain myself to a man who sleeps under the blanket of freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I'd rather you say thank you, and went on your way. Either that or you grab a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a *#&% what you think you are entitled to!!!!"

    -A Few Good Men

    Or something like that.

Another excellent quote, Counter Riposte. In context a little overly-tough, but in this context absolutely perfect.

As for The Bourne Identity - read the book, too. It is COMPLETELY different from the movie. The basic premise (man washes up with amnesia, spends the time trying to save his own butt and find out who he is, with help of girl) is the same. But that is IT. EVERYTHING else, down to time it was set in (current time in the movie, seventies in the book) is totally different - but still just as good!
