| The electric foil takes current in on one line, and shunts it back out the other to the scoring machine, unless the tip is depressed. When that occurs, the current runs from the incoming line to the opponents lame, if it is contacted, and the scoring machine detects the change in circuits and registers a touch. If the tip is depressed and not connected to the opponent's A line (which clips to the lame), then the circuit is opened and the box registers an off target light.
The body cord connects the weapon to the retractable reel that is mounted at the strip and connects to the scoring box. |
