Two pods of 30 X 60 will yield 6 practice strips with only a few feet between. For tournament play, this space would only allow for four stips, with referees. I'm a foil fencer, and I can change, if I have to, I guess. -

Array Two things, obvious but not mentioned. Nice, resilient mirrors on the walls, especially where you plan to hold footwork. A small area dedicated to point control/stabbing the wall and a training dummy (sorry, I don't do house calls!). I have only fenced (as a member) at two clubs: one had the pros of mirrors and usually at least one place to stab the wall where no one was ever fencing, but the other one had a spot where the training dummy ALWAYS was and was ALWAYS away from the fencing, so it could be used at any time. As an epee fencer, I really appreciated the fact that I could practice my binds/counters whenever I wanted to. People who are tired/injured/lazy and just want to work on point control or bladework can chill there for awhile. That club also had an improvised "lunge machine" as well. Space to walk behind strips is preferrable to cross from one side of the room to the other depending on how many doors the room has. Wait, I guess that was more than two things. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but why pick just one? Similar Threads -
