Array att: craig---weapon listing i was thinking it would be nice to have each user's weapon(s) listed on the left under the user name in addition to the join date, location, etc. i think it would be helpful to know a user's weapon(s) when reading the posts. what do you guys think? -

What about people who fence more than one weapon? Or a parent whose children fence multiple weapons? -

Is it too hard to look at their profile? That's what I always do. -

Array just thought this would be more convenient and time saving. -

Array I think its a good idea. Just to let you know though, we did at one time try to have the threads divided up by weapons and it didn't work. But it's a good idea to save time when you want to read only about your weapon.
Ps: but honestly, I think Craig has done more than enough for us, we just have to try to weed through stuff. My .02

Array I doin't think there should be abything dividing the forum/threads by weapon, but having some kind of optional symbol or something that each user could put under their avatar would be cool- some people here are fiercly loyal to their weapon of choice (some will tell you it is not a choice, but rather genetic) and would probably love the chance to make it even more obvious which weapon(s) they fence. First, this should be in Comments/Suggestions. (really, though, it should)
Second, I don't have too much of a problem with the current system. You can often tell what weapon someone fenced by context, and if there's confusion, a few seconds of searching will solve the problem.
Also, many of the members of the forum are coaches or referees, and don't necessarily have a weapon they have the most knowledge in. Originally Posted by umbrella Just to let you know though, we did at one time try to have the threads divided up by weapons and it didn't work When was that? -

Array Golly day, people. Don't get your knickers in a twist! Well, I think it would be kinda nifty. Doesn't have to be mandatory, just optional. (That would take care of those that aren't fiercely loyal to whatever weapons they fence. If you are a coach or parent, you presumably wouldn't have to put in any affiliation with any weapon if you didn't want to.)

Array It wouldn't be too difficult, it could work just as the "location" does. Simply have whatever the user has in that field be shown under their avatar if that field is filled. I would think much of the setup for it can just be copied from the "location" especially since the "weapon" field already exists in the user profile.
I think it's a good idea, especially when people start asking questions about technique or whatever and forget to mention what weapon they fence, yeah you could go and check their profile, but it would be convenient if it was on the post. Similar Threads -
