How long do body cord plugs/sockets last? Spread over that much time it really isn't a significant added cost.
I spend much less on my fencing than the typical national competitor. I'm certainly not going to begrudge myself the few expensive bits that I do go after. And, of course, there's always that astronomical coach/referee compensation to fall back upon.

I agree. If you are a national competitor then the extra cost of better equipment is completely justified and unimportant. I was just saying that for those of us who are not national competitiors, but just go to a handfull of regional events a year it may not be.
