And then the socket would have to be gold.
And the pad. Tip tape too, most likely.
Then you'd have to change the name on the back of your lame to Midas.

A while back, Duelist UK had gold plated Epee tips. Just for show mainly, as a sort of gag gift. At least that's what I thought of them as. PC also had/had gold plated foil sockets. Speaking of Duelist UK though, I think they also made a complete "gold touch" epee for a couple of their elite sponsored fencers. Gold plated bell, Gold StM blade, gold plated tip, grip and socket.
Craig, Any other cool colors in the works that you can talk about? I would like to reserve some black or blue ones. A couple for foil and a couple for epee...
Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!
I've heard of people gold-plating their saber blades (or at least the tip) and aparently in an attempt to decrease the resistance (ie. make it easier to get a touch). I don't think this would have any significant impact though.

I thought the header on this thread referred to a Christmas gift wrapping issue of some sort.
I guess one could see it that way, but seeing as this is a fencing forum I think most think of actual golden foils when they read the title. And for the most part I hear "foil" referred to as wrapping. Like wrappong paper or holiday wrapping and such. Not foil for the most part. But thats just me I guess
