Saber Problems with the Eigertek Doha chip

Just curious if there is any new information about a fix for lights going off with sliding blade contact in saber, other than removing the extra static protection?

Thanks!

So far I believe it is "Known issue, resolution not yet released." There's nothing on their website at first glance.

Is this a problem with all the apparatuses and/or has this happened on other makes.

We had a simillar problem when we first brought out the microprocessor aparatuses, which we subsequently used for the first world championships using electric sabre in Denver.

The trouble is we don't know. Probably the majority of current boxes in the US are St. George, Favero or Eigertech. The other 2 have not released the new upgrade.

Here's an update from Eigertek. A replacement for the current Doha chip, called Doha 1.3, is now undergoing testing.

Until the new chip is released in a few weeks, we recommend that if you fence saber to use the Leipzig chip. When you set the Eclipse to the "world championship" setting, you are actually using the Doha timings except that off targets in foil are a little easier to set off.

When we're satisfied that we've fixed the saber bug, we'll announce it here and on our website.

Microprocessor updates to the Eclipse continue to be free.

Dieter

In the U.K. we use both our club F.I.E. apparatus and the small and large Sg12 and Sg31 from Escrime Technology. I don't have any feed back that sliding blades are causing valid lights so at the moment there is no plan to issue new programms. What feed back is that some times what looks like valid hits are not scoring but these non-hits on close inspection are down to breaks in Body wires, ground leads and occasionally spools/reel faults.

There is no problem with the sliding blades with the Leipzig chip on the Eigertech either. What I was trying to say is neither the St. George nor the Favero has issued a Dohu chip. They may be having problems and that may be the reason they are not available for upgrade.

I don't know if you have upgraded to the Dohu timing. The problem for Eigertech is they have upgraded to the latest Sabre timing while the others have not. Maybe the timing is the problem. Have LP issued a new chip with the Dohu timing?
