Went ice skating yesterday w/ some teammates, we had an interesting discussion about fencing on ice...

Well, I have the basics of each, but I sure wouldn't want to put the two together!

(try to attack, a. fail and fall forwards onto ice, damaging/breaking sword and possibly limbs, or b. get attacked, fail to parry and fall backwards onto the ice, sword in the air, posterior takes brunt of impact)

I think i'll continue to learn them individually... althought there must be a place for such things.... Peter Pan on ice, for example...

RE: Fencing on ice.

I know it's fiction and staged, but the fight scene on the frozen lake in 'The Four Musketeers' (Michael York, Oliver Reed, et. al.) had me in stitches. Check it out.
