| I understand the use of most of them, but...what's a Jawa? And what emotion (if any) does it convey?

| To Lochinvar,
<img src="graemlins/jawa.gif" border="0" alt="[Jawa]" /> Jawas are from Star Wars. Oh, and by the way... welcome to the seventies. We are already in the 2000s. <img src="graemlins/jester.gif" border="0" alt="[Jester]" /> |

| Thank you, 355...I remember the 70's quite well. Probably much better than you do--assuming, of course, that you were even alive then, which I consider doubtful, considering the tenor of some of your posts. (Thirty years later, but still no progress...)
The thrust of my question was really, What is significant about a Jawa? Why would they make a smiley of one? What message is to be understood from the use of a Jawa in a communication?
It's a puzzlement...

| Loch, ehh...pay no mind to the follies of youth. He was probably born AFTER Michael Jackson's first nose surgery, you know.
Anyway...the Jawa is kinda cute. Mysterious-ish, as it were.
And where did they go??

| Had to rebuild the forum and some mods were lost. I'll have to re-add those at some point.
Oh, and Jawas don't convey any emotion - just something else to clutter your posts with. (I guess they could signify that you were feeling kind of small, or looking to pawn off some bad droids on an unsuspecting moisture farmer.)
Cheers,
Craig |

Long time passing.
Where have all the smileys gone,
Long time ago,
Where have all the smileys gone,
gone to website heaven,
When will we ever learn,
When will weeeeeeee evvvvver, learn"
This sixties flashback brought to you by a seriously mis-spent youth!

It reminds me of one of the creatures in Zabooland on Kratt's Creatures.

| That reminds me of something that happened in Zoboo Land. As I was leaping along . . . leap leap leap . . . .
I agree the Kratt brothers are darned good looking! My best friend and I used to watch that show because we had nothing better to do and the observation would inadvertantly come up at least once every episode!

There are a number of sites that have UBB smilies of all sorts. The fencers above came from:
<a href="http://www.plaudersmilies.de/" target="_blank">UBB Smilies</a>
Generally, you use the tags {img}address of smilie{/img} (except you use brackets [] instead of {} ) to put in your smilies. For example, one of my favorites:
Which is {img}http://www.plaudersmilies.de/beerchug.gif{/img} if you replace the {} with [].
Enjoy.
