| one last thing, your rants are better than my rants? craig is the only one who can put gremlins on the sacred serious discussion about fencing board? this is in response to his declaration of no more funny stories on the board, so now we must all behave.
thank you for sharing your thoughts, i believe you all meant well, this thread was particularly interesting, and you all did well in addressing the question that for many many years in the mountains of tibet, monks took very very seriously. however, their rank and file are few, their temples destroyed, their statues destroyed and you can believe that none of them knew how to fence, not even the shaolins.

Ah, but if not even one of them ever fenced, that would explain why they couldn't possibly understand the sound of one foil foiling. |

| shy, you're starting to get rotten. let me explain to you, that i have seen some instructors get beaten by their students, there is no shame in that whatsoever, they teach, they sometimes come up against a person who just knew what to do, and it happens. so don't rub their noses in this, it's a serious matter. |

| What?? What are you talking about??
All I said was that I wasn't any good, (and don't know how someone can "sound good") I'm not rubbing anybodys' noses, what'd be the point? |

| okay, i actually tried it, i took my foil held it in my hand, like a bird, but not too tightly, then using my thumb on the top, index on the bottom, palm in suppination, i foiled around a bit and here is the result:
when foiling slowwwwwlllly: there is barely any sound whatsoever,
when foiling quickkkkklllly: there is sound like whooosh. |

| this is probably a more realistic viewpoint of post-modern abstract expressionism fencing. |
