| What's your Favorite non-NAC Tournament? In the Northeast, I miss some of the big, fun tournaments we used to have when I lived in southern Wisconsin. These were annual affairs which drew a mostly regional crowd. While you were assured of a great turnout with quality fencers, these were neither circuit events nor were they small club-tournaments. Wisconsin has the Turkey Meet. I remember the (spelling??? Remenyik???), the Dominguez and a few others. In the Northeast, the Pomme de Terre happens in June, but I don't think I have attended since it was moved to the Summer.
What are your favorites and why? |

By Northeast, by the way, I am referring to ME, NH and MA...CT, RI and NYC are a little too far for me to drive. |

That one's in virginia. If you're thinking of the new england division one, it doesn't quite get that big. It's a good tournament though so I would recommend it.

PRHS Fencing News!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The PRHS Fencing team defeated Vanderbilt University to capture the gold medals in two foil events on Saturday, October 28. The tournament, held at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, pitted the Lions against fencers from Vanderbilt University and Memphis University. Angela Stamm led the Lions to victory in Saturday's Mixed Foil capturing first place and the gold medal for the school and earning her "E" national ranking in foil. Angela becomes the second PRHS fencer to be nationally ranked in both foil and epee. Ms. Stamm also took the gold medal and first place in Women's Foil with fellow team mate Erin Cook capturing the bronze medal. The team also competed in the afternoon epee tournament which pitted the Lions against fencers from Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee. Also fencing were team captain Maggie Adams, Elizabeth Weber, Lauren Connell, Alex Dornier, Claire Putnam, Angela Lee, Brenda Lee, Alex Erwin, Evan Gilchrist, James Gregorie, and Jennifer Smith. Once again the Lions were praised for their sportsmanship and fencing skill. Please congratulate these fine athletes.

| Open Air! Open Air Epee in Charleston, SC. You pay $25, and fence underneath a pier that's open to the ocean and to spectators. There are snacks, etc. available all day, and once the grillmaster gets knocked out (and he always makes it into the 8, damn him) he get started on lunch. When you're knocked out, you grab a beer, shuck down to your swimsuit, and mock the poor suckers who still have to fence. It's always a least a B tournament, and SC fencers are among some of the coolest folk in the world.
*cry* I miss it.

There was no domination by them if you'd care to look up the results: http://askfred.net/Results/results.p...nament_id=2528 . It was a fun tournament, but like many others you typically don't see the best competition until you make the round of 8/4/finals.
That said, I love the Vandy tournaments...but I'm gonna have to with the Crescent City Open as my favorite non-NAC tournament at the moment.
