Array REAL girl names are welcome(suddenly, the ones we picked don't seem right anymore). Please be advised that I absolutely refuse to use the name "Marie" anywhere in the name. Also, the last name will be Gibbs, so make sure it works! "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

My ex-sister-in-law is Allegra Gibbs. I suppose using her name would be kind of unoriginal, but at least you'd know it works with 'Gibbs.'
More seriously, though, congratulations!

Array WOOHOO!! You go Moon!! So glad to hear the news! 29th of which month?
Hmm, names...Jessie Gibbs? Megan Gibbs? Erin Gibbs? Just running through names of girls I know at school...Corrine/Corey Gibbs? Lots of stuff goes with Gibbs. Haley Gibbs? Brandy Gibbs? I dunno about those last two... Nicole Gibbs? Ashley Gibbs? Alright, I'm out now. It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC -

Array Congrats, I'm glad the baby's okay. I'll give the name thing a shot:
Jessamyn, or Jasmine,
Madeleine,
Elizabeth (what I wished my name was as a kid),
Christianne (okay, I have been watching too much CNN)
Julia,
Melissa,
Robyn,
Cathryn,
Kaylee
Beth (I know I already mentioned Elizabeth)
Emma
Cara
I could go on for a bit, but that probably covers most of the decent ones. I have some off the wall ones, but I've decided that I'll save those for names of characters, since they won't bother me about why I gave them such a strange name. By my observation, no matter what you name a child, they won't like it. My name in RL is Danielle, and I hated it, but everyone else thinks it's pretty--use it if you want, I don't care. I've adjusted now and realize it could have been worse, but, as I mentioned, as a kid I wanted to be named something "normal", like Elizabeth, or Anne, or something. Of course in my grade at school there were always several girls named either Emily, or Amy, and I suspect they may have wanted to be named Danielle. It's more popular now, but I'd never heard of anyone named Danielle until I got to 7th grade--excepting that evil Steele woman who thinks she can write. Anyway, I went through all the mispronounciations, and "that's a boy's name" stuff, plus my piano teacher's grand daughter was named Michelle and when I was being especially difficult she's sometimes call me that instead. Add to that, I found out that the pronounciation of my name applies to a boy's name--spelled Danil in western characters-- in Russian. This happened to be the name of the younger brother of one of my best friends. I was working on something over at his house once and his brother was being a pest. My friend would keep yelling at his brother and I would reflexivly say, I didn't do anything. Sorry that went on way too long. Just one more thing, my hatred for Danielle Steele, hence to be known as "she who will not be named in my presence" (SWWNBNIMP)stems not just for a total disrespect for romance novels, but on the constant statement when people find out that I aspire to be writer: "oh, you mean like SWWNBNIMP". I want to scream no at the top of my lungs.
Anyway, I think as long as you don't name her Regula, it'll be all right--yes that's a real name. Several of my ancestors were "blessed" with it, it was apparently quite popular in 17th and 18th century Switzerland. One cat leads to another--Ernest Hemingway.

Array Thanks for the suggestions, folks. The baby's name is Bethany Jo. I looked up a list of popular names, & Bethany was no where to be found. I'll tell you the meaning behind the name later. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."
