Why did you start fencing

Hi

i was gonna make a poll but i couldnt think of a good way to do it well, why did you start fencing and share any funny stories you have experienced in fencing

Before fencing I used to ride horses and I competed a lot. I went to a local renaissance faire and saw jousting and I wanted to do it, but it was hellishly expensive, so my mom suggested fencing, as she thought it was along the same vein. After taking a few classes I was hooked. I guess I just started and couldn't stop.

Wasn't there a thread like this a few months ago?

Could no longer cut it in Muay Thai, MMA, full-contact sticks etc.
Missed the fighting aspect.
Fencing provides the adrenaline of a simulated fight without an appreciable risk of serious injury.
Most importantly, it does not go to the ground :-)
