Array Star Trek "N" Fencing Okay, the other day I was watching my old Star Trek DVDs. And noticed that when there is a fencing scene in any of the episodes be it TNG or old school, the characters seem to be fighting Epee no matter which kind of weapons are in their hands or what kind of costumes they have on. But their stances suggests foil? And I've notice that it's always clean and clear moves. Near to text book! (But not at compition level though, that's for sure) What do ya' all think?

Naaaahhh. It's because 1) there's no need to confuse the viuewers with a sabre or foil lame (whut's THAT for?) and 2) an epee is easier to see than a foil or sabre simply because it's physically larger -

Array No they were always using foils, but the fencing style was very much epee (no regard to right of way, much slower). I guess because foil was the weapon that viewers would be most familiar with as a fencing weapon, and the epee style is the most "realistic" and probably best looking for tv audiences.
