Carmen Get It!!

“CARMEN GET IT!!” The warrior woman screamed as she did battle in the dark alley. Carmen was a criminal. In fact, she was a leader of a gang and she had decided to take on Chinatown.

It wasn’t the wisest of moves in Fairfield. The Chinese had tightened their grip on the city of late and the triads were after our black leather clad friend. Carmen knocked a dagger from an attackers hand, ducked his second blow and tossed him over her shoulder on to the trash cans that closed the alley. The bigger man came at her now, he was quick for his size, all Carmen could do was block his assaults. There was not time for a counter-attack. Carmen was all but subdued. She struggled valiantly but the original attacker now had her from behind and was making sexually suggestive moves against her body. He ran his tongue up the side of her face, only to be silenced a moment later when Carmen pierced it with his own dagger.

Sirens wailed in the background, a black and white pulled up blocking the alley. Two china-men climbed out and stalked viciously down the vile alley. It was clear by the look on their face that they were on the take.

The smaller one said, “I’m Detective Chen. This is Senior Constable Wong.” Chen indicated the larger of the two. “We’ve come to collect.”

The china-man with the pierced tongue did not respond but the other assailant turned his back. That was a big mistake as Carmen jumped on his back and slit his throat from ear to ear. He fell to the ground.

The two cops didn’t seem too concerned but kept their steady approach. Carmen tossed the knife catching Chen in the centre of his forehead.

Motorcycles roared up over the cop car and passed the cop.

“Carmen, you coming?” a gang member asked turning the cycle back towards the alley entrance.

A deep resentment was building in Wong. He was wound tight and like a cobra ready to strike.

Carmen looked at the gang member and to the cop. Carmen began to run to grab a ride on the bike when she was thrown to the ground as the earth moved under her feet.

A giant had stalked absently into the alley; the giant was in a morose mood and did not see where he walked. He walked straight over the cop, squashing the life out of him and the giant did not even notice.

The gang member took off leaving Carmen behind. Carmen sobbed, seeing her fate before her.

The giant in the trench coat and hat stopped.

“Why whatever is the matter child?” The giant asked in a rumbling voice.

“Y...y...you killed him.”

“I do not kill any of mother’s creatures,” the giant responded.

“Look!” Carmen indicated behind the giant.

The giant turned, making the same mistake her attackers had made. Carmen launched herself forth driving the blade into the creature’s back.

“No! I didn’t!” the giant cried as he surveyed the flattened Wong.

The giant began to laugh. “Stop it; that tickles.”

He sadly shook his head at the scene before him. The creature slumped to the ground in remorse.

Carmen couldn’t believe it. She had driven the blade well into the creature’s back and it barely registered on this life form. When he slumped to the ground, she thought it had taken a moment to work but alas he was still alive.

“W...w...what are you?” The usually fearless Carmen stuttered.

“I am of no matter to you child. Go!”

The seemingly indestructible giant cried like a little baby. “Mother, what have I done?”

Carmen was set to leave but something drew her back to the creature.

“It will be alright.” She consoled the giant.

The giant would have none of it. “Go child! I have done the incomprehensible.”

There was command in that voice and Carmen went to leave again yet found she could not move.

Carmen always the rebel responded. “I am not a child. It would seem you are the child crying like a little baby.”
