USFA Requirements on Tournament Results I earned my C in foil earlier this year but never received it. Since then I became a middle man between the USFA and the tournament organizers trying to push the results through. They have sent the results in twice and USFA has no record of recieving them. They tried emailing the results and the USFA got em but they must not have been in the format that they require. Im confused. I looked through the USFA rulebook and cant find anything about what is required for the results. I found a form for results but no instructions as how much information is required for it. Does it need everyones name, or just the name of who gets the rating increases, or do they need pool and DE details. Any help would be appreciated. -

Array I think that this document needs to be submitted after a division officer signs off on it: http://www.usfencing.org/usfa/compon...artdown/id,25/
{See the Athletes Handbook page 5/15; 2.2.3. How are Classification Changes made Official?}

Array If the competition was sanctioned by the Division, then the Division Secretary will submit the classification Change Request Form to the USFA.
You need to talk directly to your Division Secretary; not the competition organizers and not the USFA. Did the competition organizers hold a competition that was sanctioned by the Division is the first question that needs to be answered? From the sound of your situation, it appears that it was not a sanctioned competition, therefore you can't earn a rating. -

Array I agree with nahouw. The USFA frowns on accepting rating changes directly from the Bout Committee Chairman due to the potential for inaccurate or downright fraudulent ratings being reported (yes, the latter has happened.) Your division's policy might vary somewhat from Georgia's, but generally, the BC Chair should send the results to the Division Secretary, who will then submit the rating change form to the USFA. Note that the USFA generally does not need the full results from the tournament; they usually just want the classification change form. Frank Pratt

From what I've heard, it's become standard to route all results through the division. These days, the national office will not accept any ratings changes unless you supply all information: event info, membership numbers, verification of all fencers being USFA members, and it all has to be signed off by a division officer.

Array Just another example where sloppiness or misdeeds by a few makes life difficult for everyone else. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -
Thanks for the help, I heard from the division that everything has been corrected now. The bout committee was unaware of what was required. -

That's what usually happens. Most clubs approach having a tournament much like "Let's have a play!" ... "What do we do now?" It's one (of many) things that tends to not be explicitly taught in most divisions (not that national's record is very good in teaching it...). (Yeah, I had to learn to keep up with the changing requirements the hard way...)
I'm glad that it was all sorted out.
