| Flynn Memorial Epee - 5 November 2006 Come on down to the 9th annual Robert Flynn Memorial mixed epee competition, to be held at Bucks County Academy of Fencing on the 5th of November. http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=2606
As I post this, we're one A-classified fencer short of an A4, and we'd love to make that cut. Although preregistration is now officially closed, you may still be able to get away with it -- I don't know, and I don't speak for the tournament organizers. If not, I will personally pay the extra $10 (surcharge for at-the-door entry) for the first non-preregistered A fencer that shows up. How's that for groveling?
The TOP FOUR PLACES WIN GIFT VOUCHERS FOR EQUIPMENT OR TRAVEL plus medals & trophies for the top 8 and awards for best Junior, Cadet, Unclassified, and veteran results.
Entry Fee: $50 online. Late fee at the door $60 |

| I know of one A rated fencer who told me (last night) he was planning to show. Couple of Bs as well.
Just FYI... |

| Hrm. Now I'm kind of wishing I'd registered to fence rather than referee....
Ah well.
See you all in the morning.

| Did, indeed, (barely) manage to scrape into A4 status. 12 A's, a bunch of B's. 4 A's made the 8, yielding the maximum possible 4 new A's. Tournament won by Justin Meehan. Stanislav Gutkovskiy 2nd, Chris Palmer 3rd, Arne Backes 4th.
Ran smoothly, although 8 refs meant double-flighted pools. Looked like a fun event. Registration closed at 10am, awards were given out at 6pm.

-B | Sheesh, Brad, you'd think after a whole day refereeing, you'd kick your feet up a little after getting home, before posting your tournament report!
Yes, we were lucky with the drop-ins, because one of the preregistered A's didn't show. It was a lot of fun (and since I had no hand in running it this time, I can say that), though I wish I'd gotten a chance to fence at least one of the A's I don't see all the time. You ever have a day when you feel like you're fencing great, but you still go out early?
Anyway, one of the nice things about today's event was that everybody just seemed to be having a lot of fun -- plenty of hard, competitive fencing, but no tantrums. Next year, sign up to fence instead of referee. |

One or two minor exceptions that I can think of, but certainly less than normally experienced/expected.

By all means let them know you're interested next year. |
