We have five Favero Full Arm 01 boxes, two with the T2004 chips, three with the original chips; none with the T2004A chips. We have access to an EEPROM programmer. Would there be any problem in copying the T2004 chip code onto the older chips? Is the code owned by Favero, public demain, or something else again? 25 euros seems a lot to pay for the chip and handling. If the code's NOT owned by Favero, is there somewhere we could pick up the T2004A version?

Two subtly different questions that you might be asking. 1) Would it work to copy? 2) Would it violate copyright law to do so?

Who cares if it would violate copyright law? I certainly wouldn't. It's not like the Favero brand control division is going to swoop in and report you to the police.

Is it okay to break the law if you won't be caught?
Is it okay to take someone's property if they won't know that you did so? To avoid paying a relatively token sum?
Guess it depends on one's personal set of morals.
Of course you could always buy Eigertek machines where the upgrades are free and not worry about the issue. :)
