Array Southwest Region Veteran Circuit Cup -
Senior Member
Array Since 2004-5, I have kept the tabs for the Southwest Region Veteran Circuit Cup (SVCC). All Veteran fencers who compete in these USFA sanctioned tournaments are eligible for points, medals, end-of-season medals, and friendly bashing at our parties (after each tournament). We are now closing on the 2008-9 season of the SVCC.
Points are kept in AskFred. We typically have mixed gender, combined-age (40 or >), veteran events in the 3 weapons. Many of us compete in all 3 weapons... some are skilled at all 3 (i.e.: Ray Sexton, Curtis Hardy, Don Cravey, Augie Skopik, etc.) ... some are just bodies for 2 out of the 3 (me).
We keep rankings for each of the six weapon/gender (VWE, VWF, VWS, VME, VMF, VMS) as well as for all 3 weapons combined (2nd page of point lists in AskFred).
The last event for the 5th year of the SVCC (4th tournament of this season) will be happening on Sunday May 17th near Houston, TX at Katy Blades: http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=8528
We will be having a celebration in August after the 1st event of our 6th season, the 11th Fete de Luna in Clear Lake, TX (Near NASA).
More information and discussion on the SVCC can be found in this webforum: http://campechesteel.proboards.com/i...board=veterans -

Array So, to all intents and purposes the "Southwest Region"...is Texas. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array We were trying to be inclusive of our neighbors, and we have included tournaments outside Texas. Keep in mind that about 80% of fencers in the Southwest Section are in Texas. There is a small tax per person per tournament to pay for end-of year medals. We have a core of fencers in South Texas and Gulf Coast, with a couple of fencers coming from the Dallas area. The Fete de Luna has had representation from Louisiana, and every so often from Oklahoma and even California. -

Shouldn't make hasty assumptions, I guess. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
