True, we can't *quite* compare, but we're our own kind of special. (oh, because that came out right...) Anyway, Bloomington really is a great town, and it's just so different than the rest of the state. Y'all are really going to love coming to fence here, I think. Keep an open mind until you get here. Dammit Harry, that's not a plan, that's a loony tune! -

Array If you have to roadtrip to the Midwest, and you can't go to Chicago, then Bloomington is probably your safest bet.
Eat at Greek's pizzeria. It's not quite the same experience as the original one in Muncie, but it's damn fine pizza.

Array Well I am just happy somebody was able to step forward to solve this problem for everyone, so thank you Indiana University.
That said I'm also not too worried about where nationals takes place. As long as there are hotels and places to eat, and a venue to fence in; those are the only really important aspects of a competition, to me. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't usually go out sightseeing and experiencing the local scenes; the really cool part about these things is (besides the fencing) the people you only get to see at these kindof things. I am given to understand that UCLA is still planning on going. I checked fares from LA to Indy they are around $250. I think that USC will still be able to go but I won't know untill practice tonight.

Array Apologies for pulling up a dead thread, but it's better than a new thread:
A couple of points:
The posted fire capacity of the gym that Smith will be using in 2007 is 5,000. Personally, I wouldn't want to put that many people in that space for ANY reason, but fire code won't be a problem.
Also, I emailed Jon Moss about the inconsistancies with the constitution online and the one that was actually ratified, and he indicated that the ratified one is the real one, and that he'd look into the discrepancies. I'm not sure how seriously he will, and/or if he actually cares, but he now knows that someone noticed............ -

You can ask Michigan State University about the good times they had trying to get refs in back when they hosted the USACFCC's - in addition to all the logistics that go along with having 500 people in one place.
But 500 people, that's... neat. I note that there are 33 in Columbus, Ohio and that would have directors driving about as far as they would be driving if they came down from Northern Indiana. There's also 22 in Kentucky and driving up to Bloomington from Louisville (I'm assuming some of these are from the Louisville area) would be a shorter drive than driving down from Northern Indiana.

Array Drat! Our section is so ideal for the referee situation, mainly because we hold 151 refs in the section, 119 of which are from the three divisions closest to Austin (Gulf Coast, South and North Texas). Oh, well. Good luck to everyone! Sabre chicks are cutting edge -

Array hehe, When It comes to Smith, I didn't even check the SECTION until now, which, according to fred, has 360 refs.
Of course, lots of them are people who will be fencing at the time (or coaching...)...... But... y'know.........
