Dying how? I've had bullets nick me, I've had cars go airborne, I've been smashed into, kicked around, thrown off buildings, etc. I've been lucky to many times.

It makes the air taste sweeter. However if ur religious as I am death is not scary at all. It is welcome is its own way.......

Do you mean white light and all that, or, how close to dying? I'm sure everyone's come relatively close, I mean, everyone's been in car accidents and stuff, right? I'm kinda confused...
How would it help your fencing? Do you mean come close to dying in a fencing accident?

... Let's see... My dad's motorcycle leaked gas all over his garage after he died and my mom and I went to his house to start packing up his things, and apparently if we'd turned on the hot water we would have exploded... When my mom was pregnant with me we were on the freeway after my dad worked on the car, and he forgot to tighten the screws or whatever on the wheel and it came off and rolled across the freeway and our car cut a big groove in the ground...
    Um... hmm...
That's all I can think of right now.

Death defying? Hm... I think most people take fencing just because they like it... Interesting though, I never thought about it before...
...I it just doesn't seem at all death-defying at my level, if my opponent were using a real deadly weapon I'd be dead a million times over really quickly...
I think people who want to defy death skydive and stuff.
I wanna go skydiving some day, it looks fun... but that's definitely pretty scary...

Never been in any kind of car accident

in fact I cant think of any time i have come close to dying - nearly been injured but I wouldn't have died.

course now I have actually said that I'll probably get hit by a bus tomorrow

    oh well
The best defense - dont get hit.

    How do you mean?
I have almost died in many ways, including falling off the top of a building when I was fixing the roof.
Falling off a horse and getting crushed.
    almost drowning.
    Car crash.
If you mean by fencing, not a chance, I try to avoid getting hit that hard! I would actually like to not be hit but that will never happen I am never gonna be that good.
Lifes a *****, so you turn to something eternal.

Hmmm.. I nearly drowned once falling in a swimming pool before I knew how to swim, someone rescued me.

I fell in front of a hay wagon, and breakfalled with the wheels missing crushing my head by an inch.

An ant swarm rushed me once munching away (Irushed into the house, took a bath, ants hate that, I had huge red marks all over my body for a while). Last time I ever played with a magnifying glass by an anthill, let me tell you.

I also had two knife experiences, one where someone pulled a knife on me during a quarrel. Also I had another thing, I was thinking of offering to walk a girl I liked home once, chickened out, some dude with a knife jumped her and raped her on her way home that night., I suppose he could of gutted me if I had been there, though I like to think I coulda took him. I'm not sure if that last one counts though.

I also had a group of five or so teenagers gather up rocks, wait for me and tried to stone me on my way home from school once back when I was pretty little (third grade I think). Pretty big rocks, they were about fist sized and they were throwing them pretty hard. All those times playing dodge ball practice helped a lot with that one.

I guess thats it so far for me.

I’ve been run over, had a bad experience abseiling (don’t ask) and nearly died at least twice from Asthma. The last being the worst (and most dangerous).

I was at an open air gig. It was late on in the day and getting dark. The last band was due on and people thought it would be a good time to start burning all manner of rubbish. I’d been ill all day (due to the high dust and pollen levels) and the emergency doc had given me a steroid shot (normally quite an interesting experience), I didn’t respond however. The doctor got one of the ambulance men their (from the volunteer corps I believe) to ferry me to the nearest A+E. When we got there that one was full and they directed us to the next hospital in line. We got lost due to a new road layout.

At this point I really thought, “I can’t breathe - I’m going to die, AND I’m surrounded by imbeciles”. Needless to say I didn’t. I spent a week in a horrible hospital where the food was rank and the staffs weren’t particularly helpful. They couldn’t even supply me with a brush (I was ill equipped for a long stay in hospital or clean even pyjamas to wear in bed. When I ‘escaped’ at the end of the end of the week I only had £15 to my name and that got me as far as Manchester where I have relatives.

The whole experience was like something out of a surreal black comedy. The bottom line is don’t get sick in England the NHS is as bad as they say it is. I’ve never had the same problem in Scotland.

Death defying? Fencing is about as death defying as low-impact aerobics.
