Array Slayer stuff can be good. At times. I agree with the anything celtic and misty. I would say Lila McCann (I'll double check that spelling). She does stuff like the Highway man, and I believe a song or two from the Mists of Avolon. Other then that if I really want to kick the crap out of my oponent then whatever I listen to when I box or lift and related things (some country, some hip hop, and some rap). If I'm concentrating on my sword and moves then I could do Mozart and the other big guys.

Actually, if you know who, or I should say what, Steeley Dan is, it's still a bit risque. It's a literary reference actually, from William Burrough's "Naked Lunch" if I'm remembering it right.
As for tunes, I agree with Locomotive Breath, Duel of the Fates, and quite a few of the others. I have to add, "Seven Sleepers" by Stonecircle (a local group so I doubt anyone's familiar with them), and quite a few songs by Tori Amos--I could sing the one I have in mind, though I doubt anyone would enjoy that much : ), but I can't think of the name right now. On the classical front, I'd have to say Carmina Burana, the Theme from Beethoven's fifth symphony, and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, especially the Witches Dance (part of which is a variation on "Dies Irae", from the traditional requiem) to name a few. BTW I mostly listen to more modern stuff, but I like to play classical on the piano, and sometimes listen to it as background music while doing something else. One cat leads to another--Ernest Hemingway.

Array Excellent another music thread... Lets see...
Music to get me in the fencing mood...
Yep Rammstein would be in there (how do they get away with every German metal cliche?)
Anything off Cubanate's 'Interference' album.
Anything by Faith No More [and on that note FnM fans check out Mike Pattons side projects - Fantomas and Tomohawk]
Fantomas - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Tool - Letter to Harry Manback (or anything else of Aenima)
In fact anything loud and agressive -

Array ooh, how did I miss Camina Burana!
Now there's a wonderful piece. Everytime I hear it, I see Arthur and his knights ride out of the castle in Excalibur. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array Same here D'Artagnan. I forgot to mention the Last of the Mohecans (again bad spelling). That is one great soundtrack.

Array Catlady,
Agreed, Steely Dan is indeed a functional object, as seen in "NAKED LUNCH". And we will leave it at that.
Also,
Can I add one more crazed instrumental guitar piece to my list, anything by Mahavishnu John Mcgoughlin. -

I'm with d'argtanan (sp?) on the music front and whoever mentioned Danger Zone.
Anything from the highlander soundtracks, not that I heard that they were ever released.
And anyone seen Highlander:End Game? Any good?
Never heard anything about it in Oz except the fact that it was being made. And I'd imagine it'd be on video worldwide by now. Heart, Faith, Steel..

Array OpIVY!!
Stand by your friends, wrong or right. Can't call that justice, when it's just a stupid excuse to fight. Single out and attack the ones who' got no defence. You call that a new way of thinking, I call it regression to ignorance. Take warning, take warning...
Er... sorry. Couldn't help myself.
Also Common Rider's good, it's a Jesse Michaels band (opIvy's frontman...) Yep... -

Lita Ford, "Wake up call"
Jimmy Buffett, "Why don't we get drunk and screw?" (always rattles your opponent regardles of gender..)
I have to admit, I finally laughed at one of 355's posts...
Shirley you didn't mean to omit "Somewhere over the rainbow"....?
O.K. I'm done now. “General Feraud has made occasional attempts to kill me. That does not give him the right to claim my acquaintance.” -
Du Hast~Rammstein
Smooth Criminal~Alien Ant Farm
Greed~Godsmack
What if~Creed
The Way you like it~Adema
Last Resort~Papa Roach
Kick Some A$$~Stroke 9
Breathe~Nickelback
Better~8 stops 7
Crazy game of poker~ OAR
I'm pretty sure most people haven't heard of the last two, the 8 stops 7 is a hard rock type song while the OAR song is just a full out party song (both are great songs and i suggest downloading, but warning OAR has an "island" sound <img src="graemlins/jester.gif" border="0" alt="[Jester]" /> )
oh yea, been a while, but from what remember Highlander:End Game wasn't all that good Suicide Hotline...Please Hold -

That's 'wer', not 'wir'. 'Wer' means 'who'. 'Ficht' is the singular, present-tense, third-person conjugation of 'fechten', which means 'to fence'. Don't mix up 'schon' and 'schön'. 'Schön' is nice or good; 'schon' is already. 'Wonnen' is 'to win'; 'GEwonnen' is 'won'.
Summed up: Who fences, has already won. It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC -

Array Hmm..... trying to think of some more songs that would do well.
Any of you 80's nuts, (and I mean nuts) remember The Cutter by Echo and the Bunnymen ? "Spare us the cutter" could be the theme for sabre fencers.
Also, Tel Aviv, an instrumental from Duran Duran's debut album soudns really good, but slow. I used it as a pantomime to music as a Freshmen. I was dueling someone, although I wouldn't take up fencing for another 3-4 years after that.
What else...... Prizefighter by Bush maybe. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

My coach once played the classical piece: The Anvil Chorus while we drilled. We had to lunge to and advance across the room to beat. I don't much like that particular piece of music any more! Just give me a blade and let me hit you! -
Quit (no longer with us)
Array i used to play the anvil chorus on the piano, i can't believe anyone even remembers that peice of "music" it was so incredibly stupid, i really can't believe it.....which reminds me, that i was invited to play the keyboards with a group once as a substitute when the main keyboard man was out sick. i really couldnt believe it, i was totally upset, i was not able to accept, i was totally nervous, and totally ....
i.....cant'......explain......it. Similar Threads -
