| I'll be there - coaching this time, not part of the referee community. Which is a change!

| I appreciate the well-wishes. And I will come and say "hi". Thanks for the clarification on how to find you--I would never have been able to pick you out of the referee cadre otherwise

I'll be the one that has a short haircut and a little blue lapel pin that says I went through summer nationals and came back for more. I'll also be wearing a tie...

| Wish I could But a couple of things to see/do
0. Downtown really isn't what it used to be. White flight/abandonment has essentially ruined it and moved the center of the city way out east. Memphians are weird about the history and character of the city. Mostly they try to deny it.
1. Ribs from the Rondevouz(sp?). It's downtown on a back alley. Used to be a speakeasy during Prohibition. The Ribs are excellent. There is or used to be a greek restaurant just around the corner that was nice. Just about any barbeque joint in Memphis will beat the best any where else in the rest of the world.
2. There used to be a coffee house a couple of blocks over from the Pyramid on north main. If you can catch Sid Selvidge playing anywhere around town or at the coffee house, Do so. An evening of fine entertainment.
3. You can wander Beale if you like but whites and blacks pretty much ignore it or did when I was working downtown half a lifetime ago. Last I saw it was just a ghost of its past.
4. Mid-town, which is just south of the zoo/Overton Park used to be the happening area for the younger crowd. Probably that's no longer true.
As you can tell my knowledge of the city is dated. The places I loved have largely been gentrified or razed out of existance. My wife still talks about having barbeque for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not in the same day though. Note I say talks about, not complains about.
J.
