    Fenceathon!

    ATTENTION ALL FENCERS!
Yes, it's that special time of year again...FALL...and with it, those time honored traditions...the falling of the leaves to the earth, the Baltimore Ravens to the turf, the Orioles in the standings, and fencers to the gymnasium floor to catch a snooze at 3:14 a.m., as it is FENCEATHON time again!.

For those who came in late, the Chesapeake Fencing Club FENCEATHON (www.fenceathon.com and www.chesapeakefencing.com) is now in its 7th year (whodaythunkit?), bringing together fencers and fans of the sport to crossblades in the name of fellowship, good swordplay, and the desire to raise cold, hard cash...

...Cash that helps keep CFC and its wonderful children's programs afloat, and also helps benefit the SISTERS ACADEMY OF BALTIMORE children's charity. The Sisters Academy provides educational programs and schooling for needy middle school girls in Baltimore City.

Here's how the FENCEATHON works. Fencers o'er the land gather to fence starting 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20th and go ALL NIGHT LONG til 9 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 21st. The fencers, like myself, seek sponsors to pony up some dough, either as a lump sum or money-per-bout-fenced-or-directed. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A NEW VENUE FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT: LIBERTY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL GYMNASIUM AT 11303 LIBERTY ROAD IN OWINGS MILLS, MD.

So, if you say, I'll sponsor you a buck a bout and I fence or direct a total of 50 bouts, that's $50 you just contributed (checks made payable to the Chesapeake Fencing Club). Or just give a lump sum donation.

We encourage you to stop by--there will be food, refreshments, videos, music, hourly-to-half-hourly door prizes, and special swordplay demonstrations by the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) and the Mid-Atlantic Historical Swordsmanship Society (MASH's).

Thank you for your support, and hope you can come out and see us on Oct. 20th! Questions, call CFC at 410-532-7445. And visit us at www.fenceathon.com and www.chesapeakefencing.com!
