    Veterans Challenge

Who's going to be at the Veterans Challenge at Boston Fencing Club in October?

It's the weekend after Long Beach, so not me, alas. Is it the same weekend every year? If not I'll consider it for next year, if the notice is early enough. I'm looking for tournaments in October; it's something of a fallow month for me presently...

You could always go to Gent (BEL)?

I'll be there refereeing on Saturday, and probably Sunday as well.

Sure. I could probably go to the Barsoom Open on Mars, too.

I'm not sure, but I think it might be easier to find flights to BEL than Mars. Just a random guess though...

Yeah, but for Mars I have only to seat myself upon an iron plate and fling a magnet into the air; whereupon the iron plate, being drawn to the magnet, would rise, and take me with it. Catching the magnet, I fling it again into the air; and again; and so I proceed, indefinitely.

    Much cheaper than Air France.

Ah, but with your earthman strength, you'd have an unfair advantage. Until you ran into John Carter, of course. And you get there by projecting your astral being, if I recall correctly (it's been many years).

Inquartata meets John Carter of Mars, the missing volume in the Barsoom Chronicles....
Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point.

Yes, I am mixing my literary metaphors quite egregiously tonight, I am afraid.

    Shaken not stirred, though.

    Damn, there I go again.

Wasn't that actually titled: A Curmudgeon of Mars?

Inquartata would probably object that Tars Tarkas wasn't wearing an all white uniform.

Peach - do you think we'll have enough women to make up at least two teams?

That's why I asked--I sure hope so! I don't know how many people are registered for our event, and they're fencing it separated out. I don't have anyone else to bring with me for a team, but I signed up for it anyway. I think. Active.com is hard to figure out.

Neither Pat nor I can make it this year, but Karen and Gladys will be there, and they are looking for someone for the team event.

I'll be there. I'm just glad Wayne will be refereeing and not giving me bruises roughly the size and shape of Australia.

No, I think it was actually Tasmania, by the size of it. Besides - only Kathlene is allowed to give me NZ. No apology necessary. It was a valuable lesson in keeping my distance.
