| Fencing websites What are your favorite fencing websites? You could nominate a club site, or a vendor site, whatever. But tell me why you like it.
My nominee: www.fencingsucks.com |

Carol, you haven't told US why YOU like that site.

| I'm rather particular about my own site:
www.geocities.com/scfencing
It has a lot of pictures from the last few big tournaments we've hosted, and some from our gig at the Michigan RenFest.
We need to add an FAQ page, because I keep getting emails from folks who always ask me the same questions. |

| Why www.fencingsucks.com is a great site: ATTITUDE. And the gallery is wonderful and quirky. Great links. And, most important — and this is really rare among fencing sites — it's actually well designed. |

| Thanks for trying to jog your memory on that site. I'm putting together an article for a fencing mag about great fencing sites, and thought the water cooler would provide a good deal of input. Generally speaking, I'm not finding a lot of great sites. There are a lot of same-as sites out there, especially when it comes to club sites. Who's really doing something different? |

| Carol, I will admit I reserved judgement on your call of www.fencingsucks.com as personally I cant stand the site. As for decent sites on fencing, Stryders site is good (cant remember the URL..) as is HilandDoug. There is an excellent one put together by a Melbournian Saburer who I know slightly called Lisa, its address is http://web.access.net.au/~dcook/lisa/Fencing/index.html
I like it as it has cute cartoons and interesting articles.

| I wish more fencing sites posted content that anyone could use, Mike's is good for content; one thing particularly nice is the tactical wheel presentation. Randall's World of Fencing was one of the first link intensive sites. There are a lot of cookie cutter sites out there. I hadn't heard of fencing start4 all before and I'll be digging through that.
The fencing (web) world hasn't evolved to multimedia yet. There is so much potential out there. I think developing for bandwidth is the way to go. We have been doing a lot of filming and making small 'commericals' for PR/marketing and such.
My site is technically simple but meets our needs and has been the key instrument in our club growth, over 170 new fencers in two years. We'll be moving to Tacomafencing.com this year. My plan is put a library of articles out there I've been compiling and will include multimedia.

| I'm hoping my site qualifies on some level:
FencingWear.com
I'll be adding a links page by next Monday and I also plan on offering a free fencing web graphic a month (possibly a desktop picture or small web graphics).
Additionally I will add a page to the articles I wrote for American Fencing. |

| I would say my favorite would have to be Strydermikes site. Whenever I need to fix something in the way that I fence. I can go to Strydermikes site and someplace in the lessons is a line or two about why I'm doing, what I'm doing, wrong.
I read the page and, "DUH!" Thats what I was doing, no wonder I'm getting tagged and bagged.
His site is both helpful, and entertaining.

| On fencingsucks. I like their gallery and their humor is great, however their bulletin boards are terrible. I keep going back for reason I can't understand--I guess it's like passing a bad car wreck, you really don't want to look, but somehow you just can't help it--and all they do is discuss who is, or isn't gay, insult other clubs, make fun of the SCA and Classical fencers, and insult one another. It's obviously a bunch of adolescents, chronologically or mentally,--BTW I have nothing against teenagers, I even admit to having been one once, as long as they can behave maturely--who apparently haven't yet realized that swearing is not a sign of intelligence, maturity, or coolness, nor do most of us find it especially attractive, or impressive--I cringe when I think of former co workers who if could not swear, in any language or make a statement offensive to women or minorities would be unable to say anything at all.

Not all teenagers are like that... I finally braced myself and took a look at fencingsucks. and frankly, (at risk of offending someone...)I think the bulletin boards suck... There are a lot of rude or lewd comments about good people who don't deserve to have that junk said about them... Those kids need to grow up!

| Eh, fencingsucks.com's board sucks, but this one's plenty extensive enough anyway, so who needs it? In defense of the site, however, I've gotta say, I love that opening pic, it's perfect. Hehee. ...actually, that's the only reason I like the site, but I'm a designer, call me a dork, I like it. Hehee.
...Here's a link for ya.
monthly schedule<-- tells you every channel/date and time that Errol Flynn movies are played on tv.
...However... they're all at about 5 in the morning... |

If you'll look at my original post, I said that I had nothing against teenagers as long as they can behave. I know all teenagers, in fact most teenagers, are not like that. I certainly hope I wasn't. There are many teenagers who behave much better than those who are chronologically adults. What I was saying is most of these posters don't seem to have grown out of the potty-mouth phase regardless of their chronological age. No offense taken BTW I'm just being sensitive again.
As for the rest of it, I agree, that's exactly what I was trying to say. They just don't seem to have realized that various types of obscenity and the need to insult others are really not that impressive to most of us.

| Hmmm... Carol, that site's got nice design too. What search engine do you use? I can't find anything on that site that's particularly useful to someone who doesn't want to join their club, the images button doesn't go anywhere, or the merchandise, history, or interview. But the thin crisp lines look nice...
My friend sent me this, has some fencing comics... the forge
... it keeps putting a space in my URL causing it to not work, but whatever, paste that in, I guess. I can't take off all that querystring stuff 'cause it won't go to the comic part if I do... grrr... stupid thing.
