Array Getting sweat out of your jacket Does anyone know a good way to get the sharp sweat smell out of a FIE jacket?
Suzy -
I'd suggest washing it.
Seriously... throw it in the washing machine and hang to dry. Use cold water on the delicate cycle. Just because it's funny: Originally Posted by Capt. Slo-mo If you don't want to lose fencing privileges at USFA-sanctioned events, then refrain from throwing flamagels at those events. -

Array Washing it is a great tip.
I also suggest searching for tips on how to wash it/get rid of stains/sweat/odour etc. You're not the first one asking. -

Array If you're an epeeist, though, don't do it! Having a clean uniform which doesn't stink might get you ostracized by the other epeeists. Just pretend there is no problem and indeed that it smells like victory. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Yes, I think I have walked by a few epeest such as yourself....
We do wash them regularly but a couple of times without has the 'smell of victory' well established in the fabric.
I was thinking of trying vineager. I think that bleach (even diluted) might damange the cloth. -

I was thinking of trying vineager. I think that bleach (even diluted) might damange the cloth. Once the bacteria grows you have to kill it so washing alone doesn't work. I have read that adding a half a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle may work. Borax works to whiten, it may kill bacteria too.
Has anyone tried WIN? The official detergent of the US Olympic Team. http://www.sportsgeezer.com/sportsge..._get_the_.html

How to Get the Smell Out of Gym Clothes
First, a disclaimer: Geezer has not tried WIN detergent, the allegedly amazing odor-removing clothes washing detergent, and he probably won't try it until his squash partners complain loudly about his body odor, which is at the moment one of the least offensive attributes of his squash game. But Geezer has heard so much about WIN that he thought he'd at least pass this on. Most recently, the reliable L.A. Times staff writer Jeannine Stein gives us a column that no marketing budget could buy, essentially promising that WIN and its secret ingredient will remove from gym clothes odors that no other detergent could, (or would want to) get close to. And last October, the U.S. Olympic Committee issued this press release pronouncing WIN the Official Licensed Laundry Detergent of the U.S. Olympic Team. The release claims that "independent testing at Shuster Laboratories in Canton, Massachusetts has proven WIN’s superiority over traditional leading detergents and specialty products in removing sweat and odor from all fabrics." Whatev.
Learn more about WIN at the company website, and let Geezer know if it works. -
