| But, but... The nice floors are one of the reasons I like that venue! When we were in Friday night, everything was good and spiffy. During the night the AC system went down and as fencers started "humidifying" the room, the condensation gathered on the floors turning it into a slip and slide. Once the AC was repaired things got better quickly, but during the pools, it was very ugly. Many apologies for that...
Ian, I think that one of the reasons you had so much trouble with spectator collisions is your innovative sense of referee attire. Perhaps the spectators confused you for one of their own, or maybe a panhandler that got lucky finding a blazer at the local thrift store...
Of course I am one to talk. My taste in suits tends to run somewhere between "pimp" and "mobster on trial day". I had a fair amount of spectators try to run in front of me also, and at my size I know they had to have seen me! Reason number 127 whey I don't get excited about the thought of fencing being more spectator friendly. The last thing I want is more clueless folks running around the venue...
It was cool to meet some of you f.netters that made it out. Hopefully none of you had to fence me Sunday as I was not in a particularly good mood. Nothing gets me pissy quite the way that fencing like a muppet at a large event does...
I really enjoyed watching the finale bouts and it was great seeing so many new people out to the event. I hope to see even more of you next year!

| I do. It is with my laptop. Which is not with me. If no one beats me to it I will try to remember to post it tonight.

| Jeff Snider, Cville, IanSerotkin, Mauler and Co.: Thanks for this weekend! I had a great time, even with the ice fencing, and met some very nice people, to boot. I'm glad Mr. Serotkin was able to enjoy things once 'my kind' were herded out... I was just disappointed that I had to go to work instead of being able to watch the decent fencing!
- Hope to see you all at the Hangover (when I probably don't have to work...) |

| In WS... Why on earth was there a pool of 5 and a pool of 4? If I had been one of those people and paid $25 / $40 (if I was pre-registered or not), for three pool bouts and a DE, I'd be rather disappointed. It was the last event of the day on Saturday (out of only 3), and you were using two strips anyway, why not a pool of 9 double stripped (preferably tripled if a third was available)?
People came to this event to fence... so let them fence.
NB: I probably would have done a pool of 9 and a pool of 8 in the WE event... but that is a defensible decision... big WE pools can take forever, and it is almost twice the strip demand (3 strips for 3 pools vs 5 strips to triple the 9 and double the 8).

-w | Not sure about that, although it is a good question. I was on the floor at that point and out of the who/what/where loop. 20/20 your idea is a good one unless there is something we are both missing...

| Somebody care to explain what the hell they mean by the insinuations about the top 16? There are plenty of names up there that shouldn't be up there, but I earned my victory (and many others earned their high placements), and I'll be damned if somebody tries to tell me I didn't.
On a different note, I kind of want to know who some of the people on F.net are, so I ca say hi when I meet them in real life. Is there a thread/forum dedicated to that? |
