    Moon in Hiding

I haven't been very active on the board lately. A lot has been going on in my personal life. Some of you know about it, & I thank you for your concern.

On one side, it appears that my former publisher might be selling copies of my book without permission. A friend of mine was checking out BN.com & ran across my book. The detail page said it was available to ship within 24 hours. If that is the case, SOMEONE owes me money. My lawyer is looking into it now.

On the other, & far more important, on November 9th I have to go in for an amniocentisis (big needle goes into my abdomen to draw out amniotic fluid for tests). My triple screen blood test came back showing a 1 in 72 chance of the baby having Downs Syndrome. Anything lower than a 1 in 250 chance & the doctor wants to do this procedure. There are several possible reasons for this, including:

    1. Diabetes (I was borderline with my last pregnancy)

    2. It's a girl (for some reason, girls cause the test to be off sometimes)

    3. The due date is incorrect (very possible)

    4. I'm having twins.

I will admit to being scared. I'd rather fence a 400 lb, 8 ft tall man in sabre than go thru with this. I'm educating myself, & prepared for whatever answer we may get. We have a counseling session that morning, & the test in the afternoon. I'll have all my questions ready. On the PLUS side, I'll know for sure what I'm having...a boy or a girl.

Your happy thoughts (& prayers if you do such a thing) are most appreciated. The chances of there being a problem are very slim, but I'd like to lessen the odds even more with positive thinking from positive people. If anyone has the disgusting interest in making a cheap shot, rude or ignorant comment at this point, save your breath (& fingers). This is a baby's life we're talking about. Have some compassion. Think of how you would feel if this were a loved one who was about to go through with such a frightening thing.

Thanks for the ear (or eyes, as the case may be).

Moon, ya know I love ya. You are in my prayers, darling. Rest easy that you will not be given anything which you cannot handle. Besides, a 400 pound guy wouldn't move too fast.

AND if ANYONE takes a cheap shot at my friend they will have to deal with me...and it won't be pretty!

I think anyone making rude comments or anything of that sort will have to face an angry mob of Schoolcraft Fencers wielding rapiers, courtswords and basket-hilted broadswords.

I think I can speak for everyone down at Schraft when I say that we all stand behind and will support you in any way shape or form.

My thoughts and blessings go out to you Moon! I havent been on here in a long time but I just had a feeling today that I should come and see what is up! Glad I did! I am sure things will turn out ok and I will be praying for you!

A quick note about me... I might not have to have surgery on my knee just yet. I am undergoing some therapy so... we will see. I may not get back to fencing though till at least next year. Hope to see all the SC fencers then!

    Take care!

I've ordered books on BN before that they said were ready to ship on their web page (The Vass book on Epee being a good example) and they told me they were out of stock after placing my order online the next day in email. I think they slap that up there for any books that were ever available from their suppliers then only update it if anyone actually tries to order one.

    Moon,
Having been an neonatal ICU and maternal-child nurse, I know that you are in a challenging situation. You are intelligent and I'm sure researching information to help you understand the complexities of a "high risk" pregnancy. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Feel free to PM me if you want to share.

I've just been going back through old threads here. I'm sorry to hear it, Mary, and I'm praying for you. And if anybody makes any comments about this, I'm in with the angry mob...

    Moon,
The important thing is to not let your mind run away with you. I know that's asking the near impossible, you being a very gifted writer with wonderous imagination skills, but. Your body really does not need the extra stress that comes from worry right now.
The Southeast Wisconsin fencers will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

    With great respect and admiration,

    Moon,

I echo many of the sentiments here. For some reason was thinking of you and your situation (see FS thread). Many prayers go out to you and your family. HWBD.

I have a friend who's expecting right now and it just twists my gut to imagine the crud you're being faced with right now happening to her so it hardly seems fathomable that it should happen to you!!! However things turn out, they'll be for the best! I'll be thinking about you good luck! **huge hugs**
