Deev Link | Jorgensen?!?? How do you figure? (I fenced him in Vancouver. He beat me, but at no point during the tournament, either fencing me or other people, did he seem to be even of the class of the best US fencers, let alone the best in the world.)
For me, it's Cassara, Kleibrink and Sanzo. |

Two strong results (5th Havana, 9th Tokyo), but his best result in a European World Cup (other than the satellite that he won) this season was 62nd in Copenhagen.
I think I have to agree with eac that he doesn't seem a top contender.

| I don't think Podz will win it this year. I'm putting my money on Tretiak or some other Ukrainian.
ME will be a Hungarian this time.
MF will be a Belgian.
WF will be Vezzali (again)
WE will be a Hungarian as well
WS will be Ward.
MST: Ukraine
MFT: China
MET: France
WFT: Russia
WET: China
WST: USA

| AH....
I'll make the same bets that edew is making. He's almost always right.

| I was going to pick Or as well for MF. I'm not sure about MacKay. She's on a streak no doubt, but I'm banking on a Hungarian. Just my spidey sense tingling.

| TBH I wouldn't really fancy Guyart's chances. He's managing to make it a habit to lose to British fencers, and if he can do that, then what chance does he have against proper world class fencers?
I quite fancy Mr. Bissdorf to get a sneaky medal if he keeps up the form he showed at the Europeans, even at the age of about 96.

WET: Hungary, France, Russia, China | I don't know, Eric. Guyart? I'm with D'Art on this. I'd be surprised if he does anything really notable.
I think you might be showing your colors a little too much in the team selection. USA for WST is no shock, but I think that's it for the Yanks. Men's sabre hasn't been close to its Athens strength for a while and, while it would kick ass to get some strong foil team results, nothing to date really indicates that they're up to a top-4 finish.
I like the Poles (not for first place, mind you, just top-4) in WFT. They haven't been the same since the new timings, but they are climbing their way back up.
Ward in individual? Maybe. We all know she's got retarded amounts of talent--enough that she is a good pick for top 8--but I don't think she's taking the whole thing. I think we also may soon see the reemergence of Sada as the woman to beat (maybe not yet in Turin, but quite possibly).
Emily in WF? Calm down Eric.
Interesting that you don't have Mueller on there. She's been very strong recently. |

| I wouldn't be at all surprised at Ward for Gold. Taking all 3 medals (Cadet, Junior, Senior) would be quite a feat. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if S. Jacobson takes Bronze, if not Silver. All comes down to quadrent layout, I suppose. |

| Sorry for the drift. How do you guys and gals follow international fencing? Do you get the WC videos? Just review the bout stats. I know many are more "plugged" in then me in regard to the national and international scene and so must get a good deal of info through the traditional grapevine. I see the occasional video or vid clip that someone uploads but thats about it.
Is there a mag or new group I should get tied into if I am interested in more than reviewing results from international events?
