Oh yeah....sen those guys before...sorry....but compared to a good US high school battery, they just aren't that special. The basses are tuned in pitch very close together and thier sound is quite muddy...plus there's way too much unison in teh bass parts.
Where are the tenors??
Snares are playing some very easy stuff....definitely high school level music, and dirty dirty dirty! Even the visual program is a yawner....it's all been done before and my much better drum lines.
Sorry....I've been around the some of the top drum lines in the world....these guys just don't impress me. Easy musical book, muddy drumming, NO dynamic contrast....it's just ramming notes....
The only REAL commection to fen cing is the fact that the heads in the snares have a layer of kevlar sandwiched between a few mylar layers...the downside is that kevlar heads have a MUCH shorter sound production component, so if you aren't spot on with your drumming....it shows.
For a REAL look at drum corps, go to the video search at google and put in DCI or Drum Corps....there are a number of complete shows posted....some even from semi finals or finals of the championships.
Here are some links:
2002 Cavaliers....world championship show....high percussion....

Another championship winner, 2005 Cadets. A strange show, but a great drum line...the vocal stuff the drum line guys are saying is caled drumspeak...it's how a drum line would actually sing back parts. (ecept for teh first girl...it;s a jork piece and she's saying lyrica fro a song)

Now hopefully no one will post SoCal Dream's prelims performance Saturday in NY....arctic rain conditions (thanks, Ernesto....)....never performed in weather that bad. Made finals, tho....which is good, since i hacked up my solo so badly in prelims that if we hadn't made finals, I would not have bought the DVD.
