I though the movie was shot too dark and you really couldn't see the fencing very good. But that was probably because they didn't want you to see it, it was that bad. |

| Well, upon finding this post, I went back on my computer's hard drive to find what I had writtien as a review of this movie. I find my tone and style to be so hateful and angry that I must conclude that I was in a very, very bad mood when I wrote it.
I will therefore merely make a few quick observations on the movie that will possibly not offend anyone who enjoyed this movie.
1. Terrible acting. All nobility is stripped from our heroes. Even the brilliant Tim Roth is given no motivation or flair.
2. As KC mentioned, the lighting is very dark throughout the movie. This makes it very difficult to see much of anything.
All things considered, this movie was terrible. I don't think I could bear to ever see it again. If Alexandre Dumas were to rise from his grave and happen to see this movie, he'd probably die on the spot.

| Amazon? [at a pinch] You should be able to pick up a copy at a decent video store.
I hope I'm thinking of the right movie - The Duellists . That's the one with Harvey Keitel in it. |

| That's the one. Also, perhaps try posting a search on ebay.com. They often have movies like this.

| Well, I just tried Ebay. They do not have it currently. If you just put in duel, you will get everything from Magic to Star Wars.

"Duellists" from Ridley Scott (very good adaptation of the short story from J. Conrad)
"Bras de fer" from Gérard Vergez, with Christophe Malavoy, Pierre-Loup Rajot and Bernard Giraudeau (a french film !) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> |

| What about the duel between Keanu Reeves and John Malkovich at the end of Dangerous Liasons? That one looks great, done with small swords. |

| Oh, yeah, and "The Musketeer" was the worst piece of cr@p ever to be filmed. How this movie got made is beyond me. People bash "A Knight's Tale," but at least that was not as poorly acted, lit, costumed, edited, scored, cast, or shot as "The Musketeer." Words are inadequate to describe how godawfull that movie was. I wanted to walk out after Tim Roth kills D'Artagnan's father by flicking (YES, FLICKING) him with a rapier. I kept hoping it would get better, but it moved the other way, toward the "Please leave the Planet" end of the scale. I wouldn't accept a copy of this movie as a gift! The DVD wouldn't be fit to use as a beer coaster.
(OK, I know I'll get raosted for this, but I actually enjoyed "A Knight's Tale". Any movie that puts David Bowie, Queen, and AC/DC in the soundtrack is OK in my book!) |

however, it was the peasants clapping and stomping along to queen that killed it for me... (or at least that was the FIRST problem w/ the movie). |
