| Wish me luck! Well, Saturday, August 17 is opening day for the Three Musketeers VS. The Pirate King, a 7 act play at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. I play Athos the Musketeer. After a little over 4 months of grueling rehearsal, getting stabbed by rookie stage combatants (3 times!), and a few re-writes, we are finally ready. There are almost 40 fights in the show. Can I get a heartfelt "Break a leg!" from my friends at Fencing.net? |

| But are we wishing luck to Hil, or Doug?
( Sorry, it's just too good to let that go quite yet! )

Take care and I hope you'll astound your audience!

| Veeco, according to my list, you still have a response you haven't read! The woman who plays Queen Elizabeth speaks fluent French, so she's taught me a few phrases that I've been practicing.
Zelda, you'll do nicely, even in your fencing whites! Thank you!
epeefencer74, thank you for the translation!
Thank you all! |

| Be noble, be brave, and don't drink as much as the literary Athos did!

| I come now, I was just having fun <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Of course, the French drink wine and not beer. Go ahead and have a few!

| Well, we don't have it on video yet, but I'll see what I can do. There is a lot of ad-lib dialogue in certain portions of certain scenes, so the show isn't the same twice. This is better for us, as it serves to keep it fresh.
We have great crowds this weekend, even while competing with the Woodward Dream Cruise. The kids absolutely loved us, and the Musketeering ceremony hosted by the French King was packed with kids. I think I must have had my picture taken, singularly and in group, over a hundred times this weekend!
A patron told me my French accent sounded like a combination of Jacques Cousteau, Gérard Depardieu, Lumiere (from Disney's Beauty & the Beast), and, of course my favorite, Pepe LePew! I laughed pretty hartily at this, and considered it to be quite a compliment, especially since I actually listened to Gerard's dialogue in Man in the Iron Mask to listen to pronounciation of certain words!
I've never worked so hard in my entire life at having so much fun! For an ex-drama major, this is almost a dream come true! |

| Doug, I can only imagine how much fun that had to have been. I have been entralled by the Three Musketeers for nearly 4 1/2 years now. The honor to get to play one of them had to have been great!
How was the fencing? Did the other actors, esp. the Musketeers, put as much time, love and effort into this as you did? Whenever you can, please show us photos.
