Well, with a name like that you're destined for épée.

Anyway, welcome back to the sport!

And yes, this is a US based forum. There's a UK forum run by Leon Paul at www.fencingforum.com.
    Fencing is my only PvP.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to sport!

As per your inquiry about if this is mostly a U.S. forum I'd say a majority of the posters are from the U.S. but there is definately a large contingent of people from all over the globe.

Personal pet peeve of mine (and many others) they're not "swords," they're "weapons."

But, please don't take that as a personal affront.

    Welcome and enjoy!
Characteristically, I had been trying too hard, and remembered again that wonderful piece of advice given by a French thinker: Trouve avante de chercher--Valery, it was. Or maybe it was Picasso. There are times when the most practical thing to do is to lie down.

Unless you're dealing with the TSA or a school bureaucracy, in which case they're "sports implements". :P

My salle ( in a university building ) has just decreed that we must keep our weapons concealed when not in use and cannot refere to them as "weapons". This after over 20 years of having no problems whatsoever with us ( to the point of scarcely deigning to acknowledge our existence ).

Actually, Inq, people tend to become wankers when they don't have the option of proliferating.

They just proliferate by means other than reproduction. They are self-made.

Ah, so THAT explains all the time spent in their rooms...

Welcome to the forum and the sport. I too am returning after a lengthy hiatus, and after a class last night, I am wondering what took me so darn long.
    Cheers.
