Little Leaguer is 6'8"

Dunno if anyone knows this but there is a little league player at age of 13 who is 6'8"......http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060821/..._little_league

It's ridiculous, Shaq couldn't have been that tall that young.

Beware, somewhere out there lurks a Meehan brood.

Considering his current height and the amount most people grow during puberty, it kind of makes sense.

So this Little Leaguer is either a really early bloomer or is going to be over 7'1". Or both.

A bored wikipedia search shows that Yao Ming is the tallest player in the NBA, at 7'6". The tallest players ever (two tied) were 7'7".

That's really tall.

And yet both Manute Bol and George Muresan were terrible. Particularly George (at least Manute sorta had a shot). So I guess height isn't everything Though the way I recall, both of those guys were listed at 7'7", as was Shawn Bradely (who was actually ok). Oh well, once you break 7', I think you're just freakin' tall.

PS. Oh yeah, Shawn Bradley is evidently 'only' 7'6", but he also played college baseball, where he hit a semi respectable .400 or so, even with his freaking huge strike zone.

One of my eleven-year-old sixth graders a couple of years ago was 6' tall--he's a good bit taller now. His parents and grandparents are tall. He wasn't particularly interested in basketball, though the coaches kept trying to get him to try out.

Yeah, that happened to me. I was over 6' when I graduated 8th grade, and I really loathe basketball. Everyone kept trying to get me on the team, though.

"You're tall! You should play basketball."

"Nah, I don't really like basketball."

"But you're tall! You'd be so good at it!"

"But I don't want to play."

"BUT YOU'RE SO TALL! YOU'D BE GOOD!"

They just couldn't understand it. Any other epeeists out there have my problem growing up?

Whereas I'm not tall (5'10" or so), but I love playing basketball. There was even an unfortunate incident (well, a series of them) where I skipped NCAA fencing practice about 90% of the time for my first two years on the team to play basketball instead. I find it completely coincidental, of course, that I never traveled those years. . .

I think he gave himself away when he ordered a baccardi mixer from the snack stand, and was hitting on the other team's mothers.
