| RED SOX NATION: Everyone ok? Just checking
Didn't Damon go like 10-23 with a couple of HR's?
Ouch... That was so bad that I won't even mention getting swept by the Royals last week (oops, was that outloud?)
Just wait til Nov 5th...
yep... that's when Vinatieri comes home for the weekend.
Nervous? Really?
Hope ya'll enjoy watching other teams in the playoffs as much the Royals fans...

There's something to be said for maintaining a little self-respect.

| Y'know, I've always been a Seattle Mariners' fan (albiet a little less of one now that Moyer was shipped to *gasp* Philly), but for a while there I had some sympathy for the RSN and their futile struggle against Yankee-dom. I cheered for them all through the '04 ALCS (mainly because I despise New York).
Now I'm just pissed that BOS/NYY still gets all the press play. Hey, they play baseball over on the Left Coast too, y'know! It was only interesting until Boston finally won a championship.
Sadly, I don't really see anybody stopping the Yanks this year, when their only competition is comprised of the following: a wing-and-a-prayer Detroit team, a worn-down Sox starting rotation, and an overmatched As team poised to win the battle of who could care less in the AL West. Maybe the Twinkies could take 'em if they can steal the wild card from the South Siders--Santana-Liriano-Radke might throw a scare into the lineup of doom.
And don't even get me started on the NL.

| "Wait 'til next year" said the Cubs fan in a very quiet voice, hoping no one would really hear him.

| The score is not 26 to 1. Boston has the 3rd most WS titles of any other town. The Cardinals have 9, the Sox have 6, and the Yankees 26. So sure they have more Championships, but they also have the biggest choke in sports history.
But to answer your question....no, I'm not OK.

| Same. I am definitely not okay. It would have been so much different if Varitek wasn't on the DL. |

| Oh, please. Just sit back and think pretty thoughts about 2004. And repeat "at least we're not Royals fans" to yourself about ten times.
You'll get no sympathy from me, you melodramatic weenies. |

| Yeah I don't know what was worse, the 5 losses in a row to Tampa Bay and Kansas City to take us out of first or the 5 in a row tothe Yankees to burry us in second.

Not all of us believe in that, just like not all Sox fans believed in the Curse of the Bambino.
All I did was grow up spending my summers riding the el down to the games, paying $4 to get into the bleachers early enough to catch some BP homeruns, and idolizing Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Fergie Jenkins, Ivan DeJesus, Randy Hundley (my favorite catcher), etc. Now it's just a ritual of summer to wait for the wilt. It'd be great if they win it some day, and I'd dance in the streets with everyone else, but you know what, it's also about one of the purest baseball experiences of a lifetime at Wrigley, not just whining about being a bunch of losers.
As for Maddux, I'm with you, I think he goes in as a Brave (and I HATE the Braves) because what made him great may have started in Chicago, but was done mostly in Atlanta. He is a classy enough guy to acknowledge what the Cubs did for him, and how much he enjoyed playing for them, but I think what will get him into the Hall was his Braves career. And it would be stealing from Atlanta if he didn't go in as a Brave.
But enough baseball - who's ready for some College Football!?!?!?!?!?!

| Yeah. If anything, blame Alex Gonzales for kicking a tailor-made double play ball one batter later. |
