Jane Eyre, who won last year's WS, is going again. Along with Delia she is a strong contender, I'd say.
For women's foil I am rooting for Heidi Runyan, because she is a friend - as far as her chances, I'm afraid I have no idea what the field looks like in WF :-)
Who do people think will win in the Vet World Championships in a few weeks, in Bath England?
Do we even know who are the players?
Sabre will have the best US results. Two Americans, Richard Cohen And Paroli from Italy in the Mens 50-59. I am hoping Wang Yung will improve on his previous Bronze medals. It WILL be good fencing.
In the Mens 60 plus Pinkus can repeat if he has a good day. Hope Ray Sexton can avoid the bad matchups he has been so unlucky with for the last several years. (I can root even harder for him now that I don't have to worry about meeting him.) I expect Wolf Nettingmeyer to be on the medal stand again. I don't think he has been off the medal stand since the Championships started in 1999.
I expect Jane Eyre and Peach to be in the Gold Medal match again. Rooting for Peach.
I am rooting for New Englanders Tom Lutton in 50's Mens Foil, Ed Mullarkey in 50's Mens Epee, and Kay Rubin and Mary Annavedder (formerly N.E.) in 60's Womens Epee. Fellow Boston FC member Tom has the best opportunity to medal.
Joe Elliott in 60's Mens Foil has probably the best shot to medal of the others.
I predict 3 Golds and a total of 12 US medals.

This evening my coach was verbally poking at me over pizza down at the "lane splitter" in Berkeley trying to get me to commit to making the final four. But making that kind of brag feels too much like opening myself up to be put down by Lady Luck and the gods of chance. Paul Soter, the past US men's epee coach, once commented to me that getting a fencer to the tournament with all their equipment was more than half the battle. For veterans getting there still healthy and no injuries is just as important.
Is there a list of all the attendees - besides the Americuns? I'm curious to see who else is coming. How many and what nations are represented.
The amount of e-mail flowing back and forth has been interesting as people try to sort out where they can stay, how to get from the airports to Bath, what to do in Bath, how to get to the venue and all those other issues. So far it seems that this event isn't as well organized as Krems, two years ago. But I'm not there yet.
Personally, while I am really not familiar with the International Men's Epee circuit, I know, have fenced with and been directed by Mr. Arnie Messink.
My vote, bet and sincerest wishes of success go out to him.

Good luck to us all. Right now I'm fending off a cold and various weird tweaks. I so hate the wait. But I love it afterwards. This time we'll take a canal boat out on the Trent and Avon for a week out and back. Going nowhere slowly, touring all the pubs, experiencing the bucolic english countryside in the early fall. Carrying raingear, umbrellas, shorts, t-shirts and a canal book.
Ah, yes, But I was hoping for more than 400 competitors from 5 continents. For instance is Messr LaPouge (sp?) going to be there this year?
We should be after the deadline for countries to notify the local organization. I am curious as to who will be there also.
LaPouge is slipping, only third seed last year in Tampa after being first seed in Krems when he was in your pool. You should hope that Gaston Mayor from Switzerland and Jozsef Szaniszlo from Hungary are there. They were the ones you beat in the pool. Of course LaPouge was gold medalist in Tampa after his silver in Krems.
For your sake I hope you don't encounter LaPouge again until the gold medal bout. Sincere best wishes.

I have a feeling the US will win vet 50 WF in a few years.....

Gold medal would be fine. But it was Kaz who put a stop to me in Krems, just as he did at the summer nationals that year and in the pools in Pittsburgh this year and once or twice elsewhen. But I finally learned.
It's interesting which countries are coming and which aren't. Also which countries are fielding full teams. I wonder if the British pound is just too strong for a lot of people.
