    The shadows appear to indicate that the sun is very high - not in your eyes. Furthermore, the lack of sharp shadows on the grass in the background suggests that it was at least mostly overcast when the photo was taken.

    Which leads more merit to the 2nd explanation.

    You're on. Anyone that is Australian (and therefore from a fair land of sunshine and beaches and stuff) and is stuck in the armpit of London that is Walthamstow, deserves a pint to take their mind off it.
