    Freedom regained

Hi everyone! After being immobilized for many weeks by a broken leg i am walking again - and it makes me feel like i'm back from the dead, all holidays at once, a million from the lottery and olympic gold!!! Just wanted to share this because it so intense. Walking IS heaven when it has been taken from you for a while. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Hopefully things will continue to get better and you'll be back to fencing soon!

congrats! I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't move around except for in a chair if that. I'd probably go out of my mind after a very short while.

Back in March, I had to sit out of fencing for a whole month thanks to my back. I honestly thought I was going to go insane. That was when I had only just gotten back into fencing so I was fanatical to say the least. I dread that thought of ever having to give fencing up over an injury. Take care of yourself and get back on the piste ASAP!

    D'art,

You do realize there is wheelchair fencing, so technically, you don't have to give it up at all.

I don't think I could even imagine a month out of sports. I tore a ligament in my right foot a while back during a Semi Finals game for soccer. Hurt like no other, and we wrapped it (cuz we made it to the finals) and I was crying taking a jog around the feild. So my coach made me sit out for like the first half. I thought I would die.

I've been out for a year. A stress fracture & pregnancy can do that to ya.

I'm reaaaallllly itching to stab someone right now. But first priority is getting back my strength & stamina. I'm working on it to get ready for a September start. Just in time to beat up on all the new people.

We saw a wheelchair fencing demonstration at Coaches College this year. Looked pretty fun and there's a lot more to it than I thought.

    Reptile-
Welcome back to fencing. Hope that you are regaining strength on that leg so that a jump-lunge won't kill ya.

    Moonitic-
Congratulations on your new baby... (Details?) be sure to get him/her a foil/epee/sabre for the shower. Welcome back.

moon, were you really out for a year, and did you really get back? i'm out for four months and it feels terrible, but i realize i should have taken about that much time off anyway due to surgery. but the only way i can get back into it is relocate. i really want to, in fact i really can't wait.
