| I do a bit of foil and epee but a bit more emphasis on foil since I started fencing with the foil. If we're a flepeeist, do we get repped by both the foilists and the epeeists of this thread?

| Foil is the best because it's a great combination of a game and a sport. There is the athleticism of timing, movement, and coordination you need to do lightning fast attacks, repostes, attacks-in-prep, etc. But, there's is also the satisfaction of making your opponent bend to your will. The devious attacks they dont see coming, the feints that send their blades flying in exactly the wrong direction, the inviting movement that gets them to attack just in the right distance for you to parry and flick them in the back. There is the challenge of having to attack deep, somehow getting around their defense. Standing there poking at them is not an option - you have to move! If you are slow, you get hit before you know it. If you dont move, you dont stand a chance. If you dont challenge yourself and impose your will on your opponent, it's only a matter of time before you get sent home. Foil is not easy, it's only for those who have the will, stamina, coordination, and intelligence... in short, it's only for the best. The rest, well, we have other "weapons" for them to have fun with.

| Hey, epeeists, we've given these foil-lovers a big boost. Now let's see if they can keep this thread alive by themselves.
I'm suggesting ( recognizing I have no authority to call for it) a temporary boycott of the foilist message thread. Let 'em prove they can sink or swim on their own before we dedicate any more valuable epee energy to teasing the poor slobs.
Pull out! Go back to the epee-only thread where we belong! (Again, just a suggestion.)

| Well, let me stand up and be counted amongst the foilists! I know I'll never be as fast as the young kids so I'm hoping that with sufficient practice and training I will eventually be able to outsmart them! Age and treachery vs. youth and skill.....etc.
