If I am wrong, maybe he has one I haven't seen.

| Ask Justin about fencing saber at Nationals in maybe '88 or '89? (at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where they had to shut things down for a while because of the heat in an un air conditioned gym), and having a couple of inches of saber blade inserted into his leg... And then finishing his pool after being patched up. However, his knickers did not get cleaned up, and the bloodstain was pretty vivid. People seemed even more afraid to hit him after this... And the kid that hit him was pretty shaken up by it too.

That is, on piste, drop your knicks. And I quote "It was the 80s, people weren't wearing boxers...."
Now, I wasn't there, but he says the blood looked a lot worse then the injury b/c it wicked through his knicks...etc...etc...And he also had the choice "stiches or butterfly strips" and when he found out he couldn't fence with stiches, opted for butterfly strips and as a result had some difficulty showering for a bulk of that week(end?).

| You know - I had forgotten about him having to drop trou... But yeah - the blood stain was the impressive/intimidating part. As if Justin needed more intimidation factor. What I remember most is walking around after Justin and watching the looks on people's faces as they looked at him, his knickers, his expression (it was fairly painful too) and then got *real* interested in something else. Not a lot of folks knew Justin then, we were all just out of high school/in college, and so people didn't quite know what to make of him.
Glad to hear I am not the only one who still tells the story.

| Yes, I am very proud to announce that I spoke to Justin about this story and he is thrilled that this story is now a part of the "Official JXM Thread"

| no matter what they tell you, it really is a joke that can only effectively told in person, so don't really even bother trying to get someone to tell you the Russian Joke online...
... it just doesn't pack the same punch, otherwise....
