Fencing in New Orleans

Hi, I just graduated from Ole Miss, and am moving back home to New Orleans. So I can't really fence in Oxford on a regular basis anymore. So where can I fence at home now? The Hurricane seems to have screwed this all up. Anyone know of any places I could fence in New Orleans? Websites? Email contacts?

Thanks.

Chip

Richard Exnicios would be a good person to contact. He's on the board some (under his real name), so you could probably find a way to PM him. Last I heard, he'd pretty much gotten Tulane fencing back up.

I'm fairly sure that the Tulane club is back up and running. I know Richard wouldn't let it stay down for too long. The New Orleans Fencering Academy is nonexistent as of now, and the New Orleans Athletic Club is struggling to get back.

Go to www.louisianafencing.org and you can check out the websites of the clubs, and get some contact info through there.

I know that the Crescent City Open is scheduled to happen this year, so Richard is most definitely hard at work getting fencing going on more in the city. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

Since it is Summer the only club running right now is the Summer Fencing Club. Here is their information They stop fencing on August 17th. After that the only other option that I know of is the Tulane Fencing Club, and they fence during school semesters. Tulane Fencing Website

You might also check with the Division Chair, John Poirot, who is from Lafayette, but might be better tuned in to local affairs.
