A Brief Warning

Many of you may already know about this as you have experienced it yourself but this is to save you from either 1) [if you are an adult] being annoyed and weirded out or 2) If you are a kid or adolescent from being preyed on.

There is a man who trolls the forum looking for people to IM and talk to. At first he is seemingly harmless, however, he will soon begin to ask you bizarre questions. I have been told directly by two people that he offered them FIE gear to come "fence for him" not as a coach, but, so he can watch.

I can tell you from personal experience that he offered to pay me to fence him as long as I wore knickers. I myself am 23 and recognized him for what he is, which is some kind of predator, however someone who isn't as experienced or a younger child might be lured by much things.

Anyway, his SN (on AIM) is Elon1990 and I feel comfortable saying that he is unsavory, and unless you like this sort of thing, stay away.

I have alerted Gav to the situation, and hopefully he could be perma-banned or something, but there is no real way of knowing so, please be careful.

He, and his behaviour, is known to us. However, newcomers have come along so if you were approached by him it was probably a good idea to bring it up.

I second Zilver--- So perhaps this should be a sticky in the "Welcome to the Boards" Board?????

That would probably be more beneficial to people than a thread here, or him being perma-banned, since even were he to be permabanned, that just keeps him from posting, not reading......

It used to be a sticky, but it was a bit generic in that it basically said that if you put your IM address in your profile, you should be careful who talk to.

Don't know where it went. And he doesn't post here anymore that I know of, he just farms IM's. Which is bad enough, because he's a pain in the a$$.

It seems possible to me that Gav (and if not Gav certainly Craig) should be able to perma-ban his IP. If it's not static then presumably his domain.

I know on other forums people have been perma-banned.

In this case I suppose it might be difficult, either way, as was already said, the word definately needs to be out.

Yeah I blocked him on instant messanger long ago. According to him he just likes to watch people in fencing gear move up and down the strip. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson he is one sick mother f@#%er.

I also encountered this guy about 2 years ago. Same offer, FIE Gear, and also mentioned something about "sponsoring my club."

Unfortunately, my situation is a bit more scary. He live semi-close to me (or claims to), and even sent me links to pictures of myself at tournaments.

I actually had no idea he's still been lurking and trolling.

Ok, THAT'S freakin creepy, and maybe borderline illegal.

Elon, if you're reading this, stop harrassing people on this forum. It will not end well for you. Don't reason with us, don't ask why, don't try to justify your anctions or say "I'm not doing anything wrong," it makes us all uncomfortable, just stop before you cross the line and we get lawyers involved.

My advice: seek proffesional help.
