| USACFC website The (new) USACFC website apparently went live a couple of months ago. Thanks Noodle for your work on it.
Sorry if I missed a previous announcement about it.

| Noodle--- I know there's very little you can do about this, and Oiuyt--- you already know my feelings on this one........
But I am personally VERY curious about the new format--- I hear a proposal (and a half... ish) has been submitted, someone else's proposal was pulled in favor of another, and........ regardless of if there's a general call for proposals or if there's a vote or if we just have the new format handed down, I'm very interested in seeing as much as anyone will give me!!
I want to know what kind of tournament I should be preparing my team for, and which tournaments will be the best training for it (and thus which tournaments my season should peak at.....)
Bruce specifically mentions how we've proven those wrong who thought that Club fencers weren't dedicated and dilligent athletes..... can we let me at least pretend to be either?! : P

| Should I bring old characters?
I have a lot from the Star Wars RPG system.
Apart from that....
I'll start looking into the psychological elements of the schools that will be there.

| Slightly back on topic, since two of the posters of this thread are officers of the USACFC, what is happening on the format question?
I have attempted to spark conversation via posting of format RFCs, and I have more ideas and refinements that could be posted, but only one person sent any feedback. I have no idea how the suggestions were recieved by those who will apparently decide the matter.
I know some people here have discussed other changes, including regional qualifiers. I for one would like to see proposals written up for them. We may not need them now, but we may need them a few years from now.

Which is why I dragged the thread in that direction.
Perhaps a little power from the people is appropriate??

My idea was to provoke an open discussion on the mailing list, and you have seen the lack of results. But then, my concern is not so much "what will the format be?" but more an aversion to the Star-Chamber style decision making.

| Can I make a request that whoever is in charge of the USACFC website (seems to be noodle?) change the m-dash with spaces on either end between "co" and "founder" in the first line of Bruce Capin's letter into an actual hyphen? I'm that kind of person.

At this point, I think asking for the proposal on the table to be sent to the group would be a good starting point--- then if we hate it, we can voice that before it's been handed down as official, and if we like it, we can move on and start training in that direction..........

Of course, we all know that this is the kids table, not the grownups table.
I do not think that my proposal is the best, but that it is interesting and worth discussion. I would be willing to adjust it, and propose others, but they take time, and I can only tilt at so many windmills.
I personally feel that I am somewhat constrained in taking further action until someone else does, without being exiled to the fringe. (I know, too late.) If it were just myself, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I must consider my club as well.
I suggest that you (or your coach) write an open letter to the officers of the USACFC, but stress the need for communication, and opening the discussions that must be happening to all interested parties. The angle of "need to know what format to train my fencers in" may only result in a hastily imposed format, which I feel is not in our best interests.
If you do so, hopefully other clubs will take up the cry as well.

Perhaps a little power from the people is appropriate?? | That's not rue...from the people I've talked to there is a lot being discussed. Just because it's not on this forum doesn't mean things aren't happening.
