Array The perfect Bodycord The Previous thread about the LP cords sparked the idea for me to ask the question: What would be your perfect b/c? Such as this end with this wire with this coating, and this end with this socket. Please, if you will, give your reasoning behond what you think...

Array You might get directed to this: HOM presents: The American body cord..
I would like a Negrini copper/silver clad steel conductor, with a clear LP coating. An LP three prong on one end (except clear), and a favero clip (except clear) with the Uhlmann prongs protruding. And I'd go with the alligator clip from Purple Fencer. I'd like all the piercing screws to be LP as well. -

Array Id like to see the new ends before i commit the money to the cord, and I use bayonets as well, BUT I meant this purly out of my own curiosity. In a perfect world what would you use, not asking what you use today.

The alligator clip i use is a standard Mueller 27...you can get then at almost any electronics store....they're US made, too. Theonly differance between the Mueller I use and the one Uhlmann uses is I KEEP the screw it comes with...i don;t not use it and make my solder connection solely a ball if solder in the screw hole.
The LP screws onluy work in LP sockets because they're VERY long....mine are going to be 5.5m (the length of a prieur cord screw)

I'm getting closer on that....hoping to get a quote on at least a test run this week.... -

Array It all depends on what you start with.
Traditionally the Lost and Found at a lot of tournaments gets picked over with the armorers getting first choice and the really leftovers going to the organizers. Unless they are marked, of course. Marked equipment is ALWAYS returned to the rightful owners.
I would choose the brand new Leon Paul Epee body cords, the ones with the clear insulation and the shiny copper.
First thing would be to change the reel end to a Prieur 3-pin. Best pins in the world and easy to repair in the field.
Then my best available Leon Paul bayonet. Little trouble getting the Leon Paul wires down the Leon Paul tunnels.
Finally use a full half of the third conductor for the alligator clip. Minor complaint about Leon Paul Foil/Sabre body cords. THEY DON'T MAKE THE ALLIGATOR WIRE LONG ENOUGH. If it breaks twice, and it will, there is not enough wire left to meet the 40 cm minimum. Don't mind their alligator clips, easier to solder to than Muellers.
For Epee I used to like Leon Paul wire, very flexible, and Prieur 3-pin plugs. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -

Array My ultimate epee cord is an LP cord. My ultimate foil/saber wire is and LP epee wire with an LP lame line and clip coming off of it. I really don't know why more clubs/schools don't use them. Only having one wire for all three weapons makes life a lot easier.
The LP wire could be a bit more durable (not that it isn't already, but it could be more so like the Negrini wire) but then it would be heavier, stiffer and more expensive taking away three of the things I really like about the LP cords. I am happy with the tradeoff all things conisdered. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Array I'll go with the Negrini. They are tanks. They are easy-lock-in, easy out. My kids usually bust everything, but they haven't been able to even 'ding' these cords. Similar Threads -
